No F1 thread?
Re: No F1 thread?
Reading f1 drivers opinions on the announcement of racing returning to Zandvoort- looks like another Monaco, with qualifying a balls out impressive effort and the race a game of following the leader
Re: No F1 thread?
It sounds like a suitable replacement for Barcelona then
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: No F1 thread?
Ferrari need a new strategist urgently now, it’s getting silly, could probably do with a new driver aswell......

That was awful, how did they screw up so much?!

Re: No F1 thread?
It’s turned into the usual tyre saving snooze fest now.

Re: No F1 thread?
Indeed. Monaco is just shit, I don't care how historic it is.
Re: No F1 thread?
They should give them formula 3 cars for this race.
Bloody rain didn’t arrive either.

I know I'm not really supposed to post in this thread as I'm not an F1 fan, but a question for the more mature (old) forum members - has there EVER been a good Monaco F1? It just seems impossible given the circuit restrictions.
Re: No F1 thread?
Indeed. Qualifying is the race in reality. Sadly the "race" itself is just brisk following.JLv3.0 wrote: Sun May 26, 2019 3:47 pm I know I'm not really supposed to post in this thread as I'm not an F1 fan, but a question for the more mature (old) forum members - has there EVER been a good Monaco F1? It’s not been brisk recently either.
Last year Ricciardo won with a 160 bhp deficit and driving defensively half the race. The first half of the race was tyre saving iirc.
This year was 60 laps of Hamilton moaning and tyre saving.

Chuck a bit of rain in the mix and there were some great races, notably Panis win in the 90s
ETA a quick Google suggests that's was 23yrs ago

Re: No F1 thread?
I think I found it more boring than usual as I saw the old F1 cars racing yesterday

Still had tinnitus when I woke up this morning

I was there and it was epic. We chose to go to Monaco to because of the experience. The racing is usually shit, so I knew we wouldn’t miss a great one (watching and following a race is much better on TV) but the atmosphere was great and we had awesome seats directly opposite the Mercedes and Ferrari garages.
Who knew that Monaco was basically a bunch of tunnels and cliffs with a few building precariously balanced on the edges?

The footage I've seen of races form the 60s was good as the cars were so much smaller and could pass, they also had none of this namby pamby health and safety nonsense so cars would regularly end up in the harbour!JLv3.0 wrote: Sun May 26, 2019 3:47 pm I know I'm not really supposed to post in this thread as I'm not an F1 fan, but a question for the more mature (old) forum members - has there EVER been a good Monaco F1? Re: No F1 thread?
But from memory that was only exciting as people kept breaking down or crashing so there were a few changes to the lead?Carlos wrote: Sun May 26, 2019 4:51 pm Chuck a bit of rain in the mix and there were some great races, notably Panis win in the 90s

Last year was mildy interesting as Max came from the back (unlike young LeClerc yesterday).
