There are definitely engines that run on compressed air. Technically all ICEs do too, but they also require fuel.ZedLeg wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:10 am You can get engines that run on compressed air, there are compressor pumps you can run off the exhaust or crankshaft.

Yeah, I think they use it to spool the turbos up quicker or somesuch?unzippy wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:59 amI'm pretty sure I read something about Koenigsegg having some gizmo that allowed the engine to act as an air pump, off throttle. It fills a tank and is available as boost for later.ZedLeg wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:10 am You can get engines that run on compressed air, there are compressor pumps you can run off the exhaust or crankshaft.

Now, I don’t know for a FACT that F1 cars run on petrol
But I have to question what the benefit of lying about it is

Re: My new favourite conspiracy theory
There was a train engine that used enormous compressed air tanks to help response, but the tanks didn’t last long. We drain a 3000litre bottle from 30bar to 18 bar in 3 starts. So a whole 30 seconds.
I would happily pay to watch videos of person shouting NO, then slapping each of these idiots in the face with a steel gloved hand. Might help society in general.

Beyond either that post or the wording therein, I can't find any evidence that that statement is correct in any way.
For clarity, please don't think for a second that I consider the above to constitute evidence.
