Mille Miglia 2019 - photos from the pre-start

Post by JLv3.0 »

Good on the old man - he noticed that the Mille Miglia was starting while we were on hols down in Lake Como, so me and him nipped over there for a few hours.

All photos in this link - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j2p8o1q541e8 ... Ohzfa?dl=0 - not edited or owt so no bitching

Few of the Blower Bentley to whet your appetitos (I speak Italian now, I've decided):

Do take a look at the album, there's some remarkable stuff on display. I felt very, very poor - even more than usual.

Whose signatures on the Merc? I can make out Walter Rohrl, but no others.
Speaking of which, nice classic Carrera he was driving.

(and I just googled him and saw he was born just 2d before my Mum 8-) )

Pretty sure one of them is Christian Geistdorfer, his co-driver for basically forever. Maybe Jochen Mass for one of the others?

Good shout. Also co-driver to W Rohrl on this event. A fearsome duo.

When I was a sproglet our house had light switches similar to the two top centre of the Bentley's dash.

I've still got one on the external fuel pump for the race car! (consequence of sharing a workshop with an old bloke!)

About as close as I'm going to get to owning a blower Bentley.
