These are fucking useless really but I quite like the way they look and squinting across the bonnet to not see what's tailgating me makes me feel suitably detached from proceedings.

That second picture is great.

Maybe spray the mirrors green to blend in better, the chrome looks at odds with the rest of it. It’s fucking cool tho regardless 8-)

Bill is a bit heavier than I thought and I’ll update on that when I get the final amount but everything is now fully sorted.
As good as you remember, or not had a chance to really thrash it yet (understandable given the engine internal work I suppose)?
I haven’t driven it yet  when we went to get it I was in the X5 and Shane the owner of BPC drove it back on his trade insurance. First 500 miles is under 4000rpm, then oil change and then can go for it properly so I’ve asked Shane to use to get those miles out of the way.

Ah, so let him run it in as a 'garage slag' for a week or so, then get it delivered ready to kick the stones out of? ;)

It looks like a model in that pic, I keep waiting for a hand to come down and pick it up :D
I agree re the chrome, but if the reason for them is the others kept getting broken then standing out might help these last longer.

OY plate - registered by VW when new, it might have a more interesting history than most, possibly a press car.

Managed to "fix" the TPMS - bought a proper digital pressure gauge, got the tyres all to correct/equal pressures and it's been fine since. I'm impressed with the PS4's, although I've had to run them at higher pressures than the PZeros.

Next on the list to fix the leather. Passenger side needs to come out and be sent to have the bolster reattached, it's starting to come away. Drivers side has the usual wear to the bolster from rubbing. Not sure whether to DIY that one or get it done properly.

Turns out that it's not so fortunate that I managed to fit the Fabia into the garage this weekend. The garage door bracket has today broken on one side and it's now come off that side completely and hanging precariously by one bracket above the car (and may well have hit it already). Got someone out tonight to look at it. Hopefully the car hasn't been/won't be damaged.

Chatted to a 996/944 owner last year at Rockingham; we ‘bumped’ into each on another forum and he posted this picture which I thought was pretty cool.

Image

It reminds me of this pic with Marv’s S3. I was surprised how low the overall height was with the 944/968.

Image

He also posted this.... I think my 996 and his 944 were facing the wrong way :D

330i in the garage all week for the fuel filler breather hose fix, and to determine the source of an oil leak. I get the impression that the breather hose was a total twat of a job, requiring most of the rear to be disconnected and moved out of the way to drop the tank. Only got charged for the quoted 4hr labour time on it though.

Oil leak prime suspect was the filter housing gasket, so new one of those fitted, and the bay steam cleaned to monitor for in future. Looks almost like new under there!

Started the clutch swap on the compact, dual mass seems pretty loose so glad I decided to rob the bits off the other compact. Was pleased to see the clutch plates are exactly the same diameter.

Can't feel much difference in weight between the two setups tbh, but since driving other cars and then getting back into the compact it was obvious the action was very stiff, plus the release bearing feels very gritty and probably wouldn't last much longer.

Picked up a set of msw cross spokes off a mk1 panda for £20 for the fiat. Not really the look I was going to aim for, but can look suitably period with some black detailing.

On the plus side, it's now sitting on four wheels and has moved (about a foot ) for the first time in approx 45 years.

Tyres are the wrong size, but they hold air and it'll be a while before I need to worry about sorting out wheel fitment

240 was in at bmw on Tuesday. New rear cluster fitted to sort the intermittent indicator failures. Also had a look at a dash rattle. Seems to be coming from the steering column. They tried to pad it out a bit and it’s better but they say it’s a dash out job and they’ll need it for 3 days if it gets worse. 😬
