Bank holiday gardening
Unfortunately, I'd let my bush get into a pretty sorry state, which I put down to a change to darker and damper conditions: there was a lot of scraggly growth and several creepers in spite of (or perhaps because of) a mulchy base. Armed with some sturdy gloves and a sharp implement or two, I set about it and was busy for most of the morning. It's now about half the size and I have braced the erection with some twine. Hopefully, a sturdy spurt of growth throughout the spring will see it really open up; failing that I will get some professionals in to give it a good seeing to.

With you on that. I trimmed my bush right back to the shaft and the view couldn’t have made me happier.
