My entire crew went a bit pale yesterday when I showed them the info. 30 on perimeter road, 15 in car parks (yes, they’re in there too), 20 on forecourts.

I’m not sure they’ll be improving safety as every buggers going to be looking at lampposts and not the road!

Where does this info come from Ian? Is it 'official'? I know the cameras around Gatwick are security/monitoring, not speed.

Then again, a lot of people drive like bellends around the Heathrow perimeter roads, so it's not surprising.

At least they’re still more far more visible than the grey cameras they hide behind motorway gantries - I’m always looking through the gap between the sign and the chassis of the gantry for those.

Wondered this myself. Says they have powers to seize your car. Surely unless your flying in hot they cant do that?

Depends on the status of the road. However, the fact that the letter specifically references S59 would suggest not. I think you have to be a repeat offender to have the vehicle seized, or do something monumentally cvnty.

Oh, these are in a car park - I hadn't twigged.

If that's private property then I wouldn't think a standard speeding fine etc would apply?

Maybe it's a civil thing and you'd be sued for speeding, rather than prosecuted (as per trespass I believe? in the sense it's a civil crime, and so you'd actually be sued for trespass, not prosecuted, as the signs always say?)
