I got into rave music just before Experience was released. Experience is a great album. They became increasingly less interesting after that, a bit like Oasis and their debut album. I've seen them 'live' a few times though. Memories are somewhat sketchy but I seem to remember agreeing that they put on a good show. Kieth of course being the frontman and putting a face to Liams talent.

It's a sad way to go out.

Takes me back to my teenage years, sitting smoking weed in the back of my mate's Orion Ghia listening to Experience on cassette with Autoreverse keeping it looped. What a bunch of knobheads we were.

Amen brother

It was probably in the tape deck of my Mk3 escort 1.1L one night in '92.

I, along with my usual four other habitual associates were driving around aimlessly when it became apparent that we had unwittingly self-inflicted ourselves to an unusually strong dose of chemical enlightenment.

The well trusted contingency plan we had in place for such (fairly frequent) occurrences, was to drive to the golf course and sit in the car park then bore each other with the secret to life, the universe and all things beyond our realm until such time as we'd run out of fags, drugs or ...no....that's about it really.

Anyway, on this particular occasion, we'd wandered from the car to marvel at the local trees. They'd somehow developed an ability to transform seamlessly from one alternative form to another, whilst at the same time remaining rooted in front of us.

Gradually, over time, the myriad forms they perpetually merged into became a little more predictable and who wants to stare at any tree that lacks imagination?. We returned to my unlocked car.

Except it wasn't now entirely unlocked anymore. The drivers door was firmly locked whilst the others were left wide open. More than just locked, the key would no longer fit into the keyhole. Somehow the keyhole had been rendered impenetrable. It wad also been filled with a substance that looked a bit like superglue. That was a proper head-scratcher I can tell you but yet further confusion was to come after I climbed across from the passenger seat.

The stereo had been pulled halfway out of it's cradle. All the tapes had gone. A quick search indicated that our mutual slush fund has disappeared from it's usual place of being which was in a carrier bag under the passenger seat.

What was the significance of these momentous events?. We sat, smoked and wondered but no answer came. The universe had finally thrown something at us that wasn't easily explainable by just taking a deep breath and talking a lot of shite to people that were equally off their tits.

It was only on the slow, careful drive back to town many hours later that it finally came to me and I immediately alerted my equally tired associates to the startling revelation. 'We've been fucking robbed!'

The wave of hilarity that washed over us upon the realisation of such alarming news was truly something. I don't that I've ever cried so much from laughing before or since.

What a bunch of fucking clueless morons

Doors of perception = my arse.

The chap who sold me the 996 GT3, he had a 987 Spyder that used to be owned by Keith Flint.

Keith Flint had a 996 GT3 RS as well. (half way down the below link)

The man had great taste.
