I found a fantastic thread on Twitter where some fairyist proclaimed it a miracle that the cross and alter were saved, praise be, and then got burned (lol) by the science of melting points of gold and burning temp of wood based fires. :)
Also, that same picture, you can see the candles near by also u melted, suggesting that perhaps there was no fire near by

Maybe thanks to god?

Who would let the church burn, but save a rather boring looking cross

Often very expensive things are insured by groups of insurers rather than just Lloyd’s of London (as an example). This is the case with the ISS, which if catastrophically damaged, would ruin most insurers, so different companies insure percentages of it
This is not a very accurate description of how the insurance market works.

It probably is, whilst the real one is locked in a vault somewhere. It's not like the Catholics are an honest bunch!

"I thought it was chocolate!"

"It was never chocolate!"

"Then why was it wrapped in gold foil?"

Yes but teach a man to make chocolate and he’ll have chocolate for life!

Fucking social media.... People seem to be spamming every platform possible with posts along the lines of "if we can raise 600M for a building in a few days then why can't we put an end to world poverty".
Cheers,

Mike.

The worst thing to come out of this is seeing everyone's fucking Paris holiday snaps for the last 10 years spanning across all social media. 'You were there, we get it, then again so were millions of others'.

And? Are you a big fan of world poverty?

It is a fair point, the world in which we live, people die because of no clean water or no food whilst others can reach down the back of the proverbial sofa and spunk 300 MILLION Euros to rebuild a church owned by teh state and leased to one of the richest organisations in the world.

The outpouring of bandwagon grief over an old church from predominantly no religious people is far more galling than wanting to live in a fairer world nes pas?
