Car/Bike intercoms

Post by Nefarious »

Anyone got any first-hand experience?
The rally kits all come with the motorsport tax attached. All the bike ones seem to be bluetooth these days, which is kind of OK I guess, but I'm a bot nervious relying on another piece of tech in the chain (dead phone battery etc etc).
Don't suppose there's a simple radio-based system out there that's do, say 4 headsets, have a range of 1000 yards, and didn't cost the earth?

Ta for that. Might be worth investigating something similar, as we're going to need a VHF radio anyway - wonder if we can combine the two functions with just a frequency switch.

I was actually originally thinking about stuff like this. I like the price, but wondering if it's likely to be shit (if so, perhaps the conventional radio solution above is the way to go).

When commissioning we use Peltor headsets as in a noisy engine room we need clear communication. I prefer hand signals so don’t travel with them as it’s anotber couple of kg every trip.

What I do know is that the commissioning guys went through quite a few types before deciding these were the ones to have. If it’s reliable communication needed if only go for one of the known brands. Especially where hearing protection is concerned I will only use Peltor, they are the absolute best and hearing can be damaged pretty quickly.
