Seems expensive compared to new wipers

How often do you buy new wipers?

How many times could you “trim” a set of wipers?

I guess it’s more environmentally friendly

New wipers from BMW are £51 a set. Or £32 a set for Halfords own. I’ve got 3 cars.

I wouldn’t have thought that would make any difference. Scrapey wipers usually have expired as the whole plastic rib which is contact with the screen has degraded to a certain extent.

I would be surprised if trimming 1mm off it would help and personally wouldn’t waste my money.

ETA- as per usual no one seems to have prior real world experience so I suppose give it a go and let us know.

This reminds me of the old Billy Connolly sketch in "An Audience With" about shit products you find in the back of the Sunday supplements to the papers  - anyone know what I'm on about?

NEVER BUY WINDSCREEN WIPERS AGAIN.

As above. Surely all the rubber degrades at the same rate?.

Is this even an issue? Do people actually get all upset about having to replace wipers every few years, no matter HOW MANY CARS THEY OWN?

Talk about a solution looking for a problem!

Ah, the Innovations Catalogue being the one which sticks most strongly in my memory. And Scotcade, I think.

Rule of thumb for replacing wipers:

- Notice wipers are juddering and/or getting noisy and realise they need replacing

- Make mental note to replace wipers

- Completely forget to replace wipers until next time it rains, when you suddenly remember and make another mental note to replace the wipers

- Repeat for 18 months until you finally remember to replace them and marvel at how well they work now and wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. You vow that next time you’ll replace them straight away.

- Start at the top again

Where else could you buy a combined bottle opener, radiator bleed key and fish filleter?

I recommend Scott purchases this instead. The fish filleter (or radiator bleed key for that matter) will probably do just as much good as that wiper trimmer and he gets two other useful tools thrown in for free. Win-win (win).

At those prices, just get PIAA Super Silicone ones. They'll last longer than literally anything else and I doubt they'd cost much more per set than OEM BMW FTW MF YC.

Fucking hell gents.

The 3 series has a tiny tear in one of the wipers where I think it caught a bit of dirt that leaves a line. I thought this might fix that without spending £51 at bmw hence asking if anyone had used them before wasting money on it.

Have we all got sand in our vaginas today?

I don't know if they are any good or not but certainly don't spend BMW dealer prices are they are only Bosch anyway. You'll get a set far cheaper on ebay or here:- https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/
