<engage GG>Well of course etymologically speaking, 'apple' originated from a Germanic language and 'cart' from a more Norman/French origin so there's all sorts of things wrong with this Marv. The use of this phrase essentially identifies you as a staunch Remainer.

Re: No F1 thread?
Actually, “do” originally meant “to place”, “not” came from “naught”, originally meaning “in no way”, “upset” comes from the 14th century and originally meant “erect”, apple comes from “aeppel” which was a generic term for fruit, and cart descends from the Dutch “krat” which was a type of wicker basket. So what you’re saying there is “In no way place your erect fruit in the wicker basket” which is a hell of a euphemism.

Either way, I think we can all agree that Marv is incorrect.

It is getting very tiresome, isn't it. He's hanging on way too tight at the moment.duncs500 wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2019 6:39 pm I'm not sure what you're trying to compensate for by having to correct everyone and be right about everything

The two renaults breaking at the same time was weird, right?
When Crofty announced that he thought they both had mechanical issues, my friend and I laughed - there’s no way that could happen...

I mean yeah, but 2 different failures. Hulk’s spat white hot bits of metal out the exhaust and Honey Badger’s was an electrical shut down. At first I assumed they’d crashed into each other.Richard wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:24 am The two renaults breaking at the same time was weird, right?

Yeah, I’m not conspiring to anything further. But it was weird. I too assumed they must have crashed into each other

The was a suggestion as to whether Renault had fvcked up, trying to shutdown Hulk's engine remotely when it grenaded but got the wrong one. Sounds a little far-fetched to me though.

Yeah, I think that came from Mito Twat, so definitely not true. By the time Ricciardo’s car cut out, Hulk was already out of his car. No reason for there to be any sort of remote cut out.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2019 10:00 am The was a suggestion as to whether Renault had fvcked up, trying to shutdown Hulk's engine remotely when it grenaded but got the wrong one. To be honest having both cars incapacitate themselves simultaneously is a similar level of incompetence to accidentally flicking the kill switch on the healthy car

At first I thought it was a software bug,for example a timer that hadn’t been modified accordingly but they’re clearly two different failures.

Great race by Albon. Funny that Gasly stole the extra point from Vettel at the end!
Don’t think I saw Lewis for more than 30secs in the whole race; looked like Ferrari had paid the cameramen to follow them!

I think i’ll just wait for the couple minute long F1 YouTube race highlight as it doesn’t sound like a great race. Still glad about the result though.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: No F1 thread?
Pretty mediocre race, Ferrari really fucked their strategy again, but at the end of the day they weren't quick enough to make it interesting anyway.
Merc consistently play their cards better than Ferrari on race day, I guess when you're playing catch up you try to force things, but Ferrari need to just be better on their in race strategy calls.

I thought Kvyat’s penalty was harsh. 100% a racing incident. I suspect his reputation is what cost him rather than what actually happened.
Ferrari screwed LeClerc over there, didn’t they?

I agree, it was a bit harsh. As the commentators often say, they're generally lenient at the beginning of races, probably a combination of his reputation and that he took out two cars (from the same team probably makes it even worse).NotoriousREV wrote: Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:34 pm I thought Kvyat’s penalty was harsh. 100% a racing incident. The thing is, although Vettel had DRS, it felt to me at the time that without it he wouldn't have been hanging on to LeClerc (he was only just staying in the DRS window). Therefore it came as no surprise that Vettel didn't really make inroads when he was let by.
