EOTR Saab 9-5 Aero

Post by Gavin »

Bought just over a year ago for £560, sold yesterday for £550.

Needed new xenon bulbs, new tyres, new battery and some bushes. It has never let me down, was fully loaded with toys and I thoroughly enjoyed owning and mooching in it. After it was polybushed the tightening up in handling was noticeable but it was no Puma.

We still have a Volvo so not all bad. :)

What mileage did it have? Mine went rapidly downhill at 170k.

ticked over to 172999 as i parked it yesterday prior to it being picked up. They do big mileages though it is pretty reliant on the 6k oil services being done throughout the cars life, and the use of fully synth oil.

I do wonder of this will be my last Saab to be honest, the Volvo is likely to last a good while and the Bongo as well so by the time I am potentially looking for another car they will be really quite long in the tooth and most will have been scrapped as who spends £500 on a service when you can just get another car for a grand or on the never never!

Each of which cost about half the value of the car?

...and which most cars costing around a grand would likely need anyway ;)

Xenon bulbs though! I avoided replacing those in my £5k BMWs because they were £150 a side.

I got replacement xenon bulbs from a FB group fan boy for the X5 after one went, £18 the pair including postage. They work really well too. Audi charged me £90 for one bulb on the Q7.

Nah, that was the grey one which preceded it.

@ Jobbo, I think I paid £96 for two bulbs. Over the ownership period it cost me a lot less than a lease on an Aygo or similar so I can live with that. :)
