Woah, that’s unexpected... sad news, he was just an integral part of F1. RIP Charlie

That is sad, and on the eve of the new season.

RIP.

Pulmonary embolism, sounds like he’s developed a DVT on the plane over to Australia. Sad news

Surprised to see that, RIP Charlie. I don't know if the FIA have a succession plan in place, he's been front and centre for so long.

RIP.

I’ve been watching the Netflix F1 series with my son; we’re both enjoying it and we’re already talking about going to a race somewhere. Maybe his replacement will bring significant changes so that the race is as interesting as the program?
Cheers,

Ian

66 is way too young in this day and age. RIP Charlie.

IIRC, there is a deputy race director.

Jesus. My dad would be pointing him out at every F1 start when took that over, they grew up in the same village and were in the same school year.

Seems to have been liked and respected by all, both as a mechanic and in his roles at the FIA. Big shoes for a successor to fill. RIP.
