Bye bye Theresa
Re: Bye bye Theresa
I saw Theresa May described as a 'walking coathanger' earlier, and it's the best thing I've read all day.
Re: Bye bye Theresa
Coathangers are at least malleable enough to be bent into a new shape. TM, not so much.

It was fine, don't know what all the fuss was about.

It is quite stunning how the range of potential outcomes is still so wide at this late stage - and I say that disregarding total outliers such as revoking article 50 without a referendum or election or calling an election before 29 March.

Very good

I agree with you.GG. wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 2:25 pm It is quite stunning how the range of potential outcomes is still so wide at this late stage - and I say that disregarding total outliers such as revoking article 50 without a referendum or election or calling an election before 29 March.
One possible outcome (unlikely currently but who knows how that may change): if the MPs vote today not to leave with no deal, could the Art.50 notification be revoked in favour of a negotiated exit?

Re: Bye bye Theresa
I still think they'll revoke it (hopefully as a result of the EU to refuse an extension on the grounds of incompetence on our part).
Left over crest; tightens.
Re: Bye bye Theresa
What do you mean by that exactly?
Re: Bye bye Theresa
Revoke Art.50. It's not the only way to exit the EU treaties. Do so by negotiation of a proper future long term trading arrangement and leave by mutual agreement.
Re: Bye bye Theresa
I see - they wouldn't like that though (and might insist on the UK using the "proper mechanism") on the basis that it doesn't give them all the leverage!
Re: Bye bye Theresa
It is a bit far-fetched, I accept - but in this process that doesn't rule it out!
Re: Bye bye Theresa
But they won't. They won't negotiate our departure without Art 50 and they won't negotiate a trade deal until we're a '3rd country'.Jobbo wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:58 pmRevoke Art.50. Close majority to reject no-deal at any time, though not legally binding. Rees Mogg and co. won't like that

Like the referendum wasn't legally binding?Pete_ wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 7:20 pm Close majority to reject no-deal at any time, though not legally binding. Rees Mogg and co. won't like that![]()

Article 50 is
Mega farce.
