Square crisps used to be made by Smiths and they kept their brand identity when Walkers bought them out. Walkers have always used the wrong colour and refuse to change.

Yes you do definitely need HOT chips, rather than the soggy boiled in lard version you get with fried fish in pommyland.

Prawns belong on barbeques, not in chip packets.

Crisp makes more sense than chip. A chip off something is not generally waffer thin. A slice maybe or sliver. Crisp describes it perfectly. Don't think I've ever thought it sounded posh, either a northener or southerner saying it!

None of those is waffer thin so succeeding them with chip makes sense. A Crisp is waffer thin and so succeeding potato with chip makes no sense at all. They are crisp though, hence the name.
