Honda E Prototype

Post by Pete_ »

At first I was disappointed with it compared to the Urban EV concept, but taken on it's own I still think it's a really nicely designed car. I love the interior. 120 mile range seems a bit too low compared to other EVs these days.

Nice Jonny Smith video:

Given how small it is, the range isn't that much of a surprise.

It's lost some of the nice details of the concept, but still looks great. And it's amazing how different it looks to the current Civic.

I hope I’m wrong but I reckon by the time it goes from prototype to production the design will be reigned in even more so that it will be a typical boring Honda.

It's promising in that it will hopefully get more people into EV and further add to the pressure to get charging stations and network sorted. It doesn't have the range for my needs, I'd want more like 150/200 base range to alleviate my anxiety.

As a car in it's own right I think it's very smart though, looks funky, great details, decent charge rate, I like it. 8-)

I still love this, even in current form. Interesting in the video about them saying the concept shown at Tokyo and elsewhere was dreamed up after to be a more attention-grabbing "concepty" design. May just be BS.

Price is key, if they can keep it fairly simple and cheap then it could do really well.

There's definitely a market for affordable, more limited range cars. The Fiesta and Corsa are top sellers in the UK and I wonder how many are in 2-car households and never do more than 100 miles in one hit. Big batteries take up more space (crucial in smaller cars), weigh more and cost more. Not everything will need to do 300+ miles.

I enjoyed the style of the video and like the look of this. The Jimny of the EV world. If they can get it under £20k/on good finance deals then it should do well, compared to Renault Zoe for example.

I watched another video (because Johnny Smith...) and the price was estimated to be above £30k.

Do these cars stuff have the extortionate battery rental costs? I remember the Zoe did (and a mileage limit) - made it way more expensive than a little ICE car.

I love it, but like the i3 it's 4 seats only so no real use to me.

Been following this as love the concept and interested in the sports EV. Have become a battery convert since the missus got her i3 before Xmas. Drivetrain is just much better in every way to any car I've driven except a raspy exhaust note (and to be honest, I'm not really that bothered about vroom vroom noises anymore :( ). Got the range extender but in the 3,000 miles we've done, we've only used about 1/8th of the petrol in the tank.
