Does this mean can call my car a Corolla, as the Auris was only a European thing.
Autocar - icon of icons

The corolla is an iconic car if popularity is what makes a car iconic.Gwaredd wrote: Sat Feb 23, 2019 8:38 am Looks like a samurai to me Simon, so wrong again![]()

Re: Autocar - icon of icons
Here’s my take on it.
Benz motorwagen - the first production car.
Ford Model T - first affordable car that replaced the horse.
VW Beetle - the people’s car.
Willy’s Jeep - the first people’s off-roader.
Mini - yes it was a clever drivetrain, but it’s the reason that almost every car you can buy now is front engined front wheel drive. It’s a shame the transverse layout was ever discovered.
BMW 2002 - first successful use of a turbot. GM tried earlier and sucked according to Wikipedia so i’ll go with it.
Lamborghini Miura - the first supercar apparently.
Ferrari F40 - the first road car to break 200mph. Apparently.
Toyota Prius - first hybrid road car. Not iconic in the traditional sense but only because of recent legislation.

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Autocar - icon of icons
I think for me, being iconic is more of a popular culture thing; it needs to have some resonance withthe average person on the street. If only car geeks recognise a particular car as being important then it's not iconic.

So in your eyes, not a Jimmy again.
Not my words, the words of Autocar magazine.

Correct.

Suzuki Samurai
Suzuki Jimny
In that order, in this country, if you don't mind.

Sold in the UK though. Not in Gwaredd's definitive list of UK Jimny variants.NotoriousREV wrote: Mon Feb 25, 2019 1:10 pmOnly applied to those built in the Santana factory in Spain.
