Re: No F1 thread?
Why is it always the cunts that don’t watch F1 that are lining up to tell you how shit F1 is, and why? If you don’t like it, continue not liking it, and fuck off to some other thread and not like it there instead of moaning at those of us that do enjoy it
Fucking bellends.
I notice no one is stomping all over the 6 Nations thread going on about how shit rugby is. And don’t get me started in fucking football.

I'm very guilty of this, I must admit, but it's more intrigue (as a fan of motor racing) about what people who do enjoy it find enjoyable about it.
However this has been answered previously so please don't get even more angry at 7.47am on a Sunday

Re: No F1 thread?
I just think “I don’t watch it because they stopped showing it, but I wouldn’t watch it if they did show it because it’s shit” is peak forum, followed closely by “why not watch {different motorsport} instead?” because apparently you’re only allowed to like one.
The short answer to your question is that F1 is more about the long game, both during the race and during the season. But I also like MotoGP because it has a million overtakes per corner. And I like BTCC for the short, sprint races and extremely close racing.

Yeah I get that now although must admit it did need pointing out to me. F1 is a soap opera basically, the racing is just a part of it. I get it.
(I was also guilty of the "watch Moto instead" thing so imagine you're making inquiries to have me assassinated as we speak).

And there's an app to watch live F1 on it?

I understand what you're saying Rev. I really, really want F1 to be good but most times I watch it, I find it disappointing/boring. I'm sure the owners of F1 could do so much more to make it exciting but they don't seem to be interested.
The cars sound awful and there never seems to be enough proper racing overtakes with most passes appearing to come via DRS or the pits.
If I didn't already have SKY for the entertainment & sport I certainly wouldn't be paying to watch F1 as it doesn't offer much bang for buck. Maybe the amount of people complaining about it is indicative of the underlying problems with it and an indicator to how many people would enjoy watching it if they helped to make it better and more exciting.
I also have to add that F1 at Silverstone was the most hideously boring (and overpriced) Motorsport event I have ever attended.

you’re doing it wrong. HTHMcSwede wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 8:23 amI also have to add that F1 at Silverstone was the most hideously boring (and overpriced) Motorsport event I have ever attended.
Re: No F1 thread?
I won't comment on the racing but from experience Silverstone always was phenomenally expensive. I never realised until I went to circuits in other parts of the world.

Re: No F1 thread?
It’s not cheap, but to call it boring means you’re clearly doing it wrong. It takes some planning and effort to get a decent spot on race day (with big screen too) if you’ve not got a grandstand ticket, but when you do, a 2 hour race feels like about 45 minutes.
Re: No F1 thread?
I only commented on the price, before Dave gets even more cross
Re: No F1 thread?
To some extent you're probably correct. I was on a corporate event around 1999-2000 and the view was rubbish and no big screen so after a few laps it was just a glimpse of cars screaming past on a regular basis, no action was spotted. Other things during the day were good like the classic F1 stuff.Rich B wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 8:53 am It’s not cheap, but to call it boring means you’re clearly doing it wrong. With the F1 other than the epic noise I was bored shitless TBH
Re: No F1 thread?
It's worth adding that I go into every new F1 season hoping for the best and 2019 will be no different as I'd be over the moon if it was better.
Re: No F1 thread?
One problem with Silverstone is that there is far too much run off so the grandstands next to the impressive high speed corners are too far away from the track.
I thought 2018 was a great season for the most part, and the cars were mind bendingly fast on qualifying laps. Luckily it seems the new regulations haven’t slowed down the cars for this year.

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: No F1 thread?
Taptv let's you watch loads of channels through the stick, the Sky ones are all there. I was watching Sky F1 yesterday.

Re: No F1 thread?
Nothing, you just download it to the Firestick. There is another app called Cyberflix that has all the latest films in dvd quality not the usual filmed in a cinema crap.
Re: No F1 thread?
Reason silverstone is more expensive than other F1 races is it’s now the only one on the calendar that doesn’t receive any government funding to help with the costs. It’s the reason they canned the current agreement and are renegotiating a new one- Bernie’s idea was you pay F1 to show up, loose an astronomical amount of money hosting the race and then make it up by selling track days and experiences based on your F1 racetrack credentials.
Statement at time of contract cancellation:
"By running the British Grand Prix we sustained net losses of £2.8m in 2015 and £4.8m in 2016 - that's £7.6 million over two years. We expect to lose a similar amount this year. To continue on this path is not only unsustainable, it would put at risk Silverstone, the home of British motor racing."
