Super/Classic Car Market 2019
Re: Super/Classic Car Market 2019
Be interesting to know if there's a long term trend of "cutting edge" vs "ultimate iteration" in collectible cars.
Example in your article was Carrera GT remaining strong with a spec now unknown in new supercars while at least the P1 might be starting to be handicapped by its complexity.
Is comparable to what happened to F40 vs 959 values?
Oh and I hope your 308 is one of those Vetroresinas that Harry M did a video on. That back in the day Ferrari thought a single tailpipe was plenty for its V8 is

Re: Super/Classic Car Market 2019
Interesting. RM Sotheby’s Paris Auction (6 Feb) was its best Paris result ever. F430 Scud went for €183k inc taxes. F40LM sold for a record €4.8m. I would say the Asian buyers have become a lot more restrained/refined in their purchases and this is having a direct effect on world prices.
The P1 has been superseded by a simpler, uglier Senna; buyers want the latest and greatest, and the P1 is neither anymore.

The clampdown on displays of wealth (and export of $) in China has also had a major effect.IanF wrote: Sat Feb 09, 2019 11:10 am Interesting. I think the comparison of the F40 vs 959 and P1 vs CGT is a very valid one. CGT & F40 are relatively uncomplicated while the other two are tech showcases that have challenges as they age. Another good example of this is the Ferrari Enzo, great engine but that first generation F1 gearbox is a complete pig to drive compared to the current generation.RobYob wrote: Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:34 am Be interesting to know if there's a long term trend of "cutting edge" vs "ultimate iteration" in collectible cars.

Re: Super/Classic Car Market 2019
Is the 430 Scuderia more desirable than 458 Speciale?
More of a ‘hobby’ than ‘investment’, but if I had loads of $€£, I would be buying up a few LHD 996 Mk1 GT3 Clubsport, and LHD 996 GT3 RS. With the 25-year coming up, they must be quite attractive to the American market in a few years.
Also I don’t think the US had E46 CSL and Clio V6 when new, if not ditto RE 25-year rule. Again, not necessarily as investment but they are fun, cool cars.

I would rate the 430 Scuderia ahead of the 458 Speciale. Its a more engaging car to drive.Coaster1 wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 6:33 pm Is the 430 Scuderia more desirable than 458 Speciale?
