It’s the same stuff as the L322 Range Rover basically. Remember BMW bought Land Rover partially to steal all that 4wd stuff. They have loads of the same electronics, the nav screen and software is the same, even the comfort seats mine has are essentially Range Rover seats and obviously the Range Rover had the BMW engines at first.

They carried on raiding that parts bin. The big Brembo callipers on the E70 X5 M are Range Rover ones. They bolt onto my E53 too...

I've been following a Range Racer thread recently on PH (here for anyone that's interested). Some JLR engineers deciding to do something silly and turn an L322 into a track toy. I can't remember what route they took to tricking the suspension but think it differed

ETA: Nope, they took exactly the same approach with the adjustable sensor links - I think I was getting mixed up with them trying to fix the speed related height settings to keep it low

To continue the extreme BMW modifying I've stuck some yellow bulbs in the fog lights.

Hids and leds are great, but not when there's a fog whiteout so wondering if these will help a little on the very rare occasion they're needed.

Thanks to BMW not being morons it took approx 30 seconds a side to pop the lights out and swap them over.

Then you can have LED fogs and some protection of the glass. I think had two smashed 2 passenger side fog while looking after the M3 - then I fitted the laminex and no more smashing.

I didn't want them to look yellow when off though, especially not on a silver car

I'd considered a yellow hid kit, but the way the electrical connection plugs into the back of the cap, then wires go from that to the bulb means you can't just drill the back of the cap like a normal conversion, same for high power leds.

Focus ST update:
Finally replaced ditch finders on front and now have PS4's all round, massive difference. Doesn't seem to tram line anywhere near as much and harder to light up wheels.

Going in for alignment in week with someone that has been recommended locally.

A2 mot today. Aside from having a new exhaust from the pre cat back because of breakage and being the original 17 year old, 170k miles one (which happened a while back but hadn't been fixed yet), it passed with a bit of luck with a number plate light, and one advisory for an ageing brake flexi hose.

I'm a bit annoyed I didn't get a chance to see if I could have got away with just replacing the split flexi bit of the exhaust - the car is pretty much all original, even the battery - but circumstances transpired against me. At under £300 for the exhaust, fitting, and mot - about the largest single bill it's given me in 110k - it seems almost rude to have mentioned it.

I need to get the Evora wrapped soon, but I can't decide whether to go with a "carbon effect" wrap, or the standard gloss black SportsRacer that Mik has.

Now, I'm not a fan slapping fake look carbon everywhere, it can look tacky, however the car already has the A-pillars, mirrors and barge boards in a carbon effect, so that's already done.

As above, A-pillar is carbon so could potentially look decent running into a carbon roof to match? But then that does lead into the engine cover, do I leave the engine cover gloss black, or get that wrapped so it'll all match?

Chances of the fake carbon weave type matching the pillars in both looks and direction are pretty slim, and would bug the heck out of me if they weren't spot on.

The 430 has (real) carbon roof and the gloss black sail panel looks akward beside it imho.

You sure your a-pillar trims arent actual carbon? You get them (and they arent cheap).

Yeah I’d leave it blue. Glossy black will mean there’s three different blacks and will probably look like a bitsa. You’d need to match the weave with the carbon option. Don’t imagine that’d be cheap.
