I think a lot of non car people don’t. I recently amazed someone when I told them that the reg plate shows the vehicle registration age and location... They thought it was just randomly assigned!

Not something I keep at the forefront of my mind. But I am aware.

Actually, I'm confused! Was thinking earlier, how is there a "same order", when you can have private plates?

I get the old x123xxx and the newer xx12xxx style, but there are private plates that have fewer symbols.

Even Danish children and girls? I know I always try to work out a country's format when abroad but it's not necessarily something you can easily perceive.

Just shows how few actual human cops are around these days - would have been pulled within a couple of days when I was a sprogling.

I never cease to be amazed by how many cars are flying around London with a headlight, brake light or tail-light out. Its usually 3 or 4 every journey if you count those just with headlights blown.

Then again, in London unless you're ram-raiding a shop front or murdering someone, the police pay little attention anyway.

I got by without a front plate for about 6 months, only eventually mounted it because I couldn’t be bothered to deal with the ANPR parking which wouldn’t let me in and had an upcoming MOT. Can see why almost anything semi interesting in London doesn’t bother with one.

I always found it amusing the when the UK changed to the current format, they said that EU rules were the reason for introducing a local identifier for the first 2 letters, just at the moment Spain did away with their 2 letter local identifiers.

Our nearest Morrison’s is in Stamford, if you go midweek when the old people are there you get some nice Old Money plates.

There was a P38 RR once with just 3 digits.
