JL is correct.

Insurance premiums on new cars seem to be particularly cheap at first - they won't have a history of being nicked yet, the security flaws won't yet be known and the added active safety stuff (such as automatic braking) seems to reduce premiums far more than you'd think.

Must be a 'Simon' thing as I set my side of the car to 19.5 too. And yes, 19 is too cold and 20 is too hot...

911 out for a run, idle started being erratic in traffic, CEL, car down to about 10bhp, off and back on again and it seemed ok, only to deteriorate again. Suspect the MAF as had issues for a while now which appear to sort themselves after a bit.

I need to get it off the road for the winter but that’s not really been happening, I will add them to the list, are they expensive out of interest?

It wasn’t running on 5 as such, just had no power.

Coils aren't particularly expensive. I had them done at the last service - should be around £300-350 fitted and inclusive of VAT. I wouldn't think that's your problem if you're talking about that level of drop off in power and then it rectifies itself.

Mine still doesn't run as smoothly as I expect so I don't think they were the problem funnily enough and my MPG seems to have got worse after replacing them! I expect the AOS just gunked the intake up when it died and the intake ports needs to be cleaned.

MINI failed its test yesterday - front bushes. Replaced, front fog repaired, oil change/filter fitted and exhaust heatshield fixed - 290 quids.
The insurance was just due too and that was 380 with the JB+ box (20bhp extra) declared.
Its quite a good fun car still - mpg is 33 av for mostly city driving not bad imo

A few weeks before Christmas the wife complained of her car (B7 Passat) stalling. Which I obviously ignored. It eventually transpired it was not so much stalling, as not starting again when the stop/start kicks in. You’d need to turn the ignition off & back on to start the engine, it’d start no problem at all like that.

The fault code it was recording was to do with the throttle position sensor. Instead of fixing it I disabled the stop/start as a workaround

I finally got around to looking at it this evening. Removing the throttle body showed a possible culprit:

Cleaned up, codes cleared and all good again ! Classic diesel-car-used-for-short-journeys problem. It’s a good car apart from that. It just needs more long runs.

Evora passed the MOT, although will need new rears within the next 12 months. As it was a last-minute realisation, Oakmere managed to squeeze me in, so I had a good look around their forecourt. The GT430 is lovely...but not £105k lovely. I'm unable to see where the £50k goes over and above the 400 they had in stock. Same goes for some of their Exiges, £90k?!?

Extra notes - all passengers have so far been impressed, especially with seats and ride quality. I'm still loving its ability to smash long distances, the brakes are great, I've averaged 33mpg so far. Minor Moan: wish it had a flip key instead of the current leg-stabber.

Finally, I've also done 1k miles in 1 month of ownership...slightly better than the 1800 miles in 2 years in the Elise

I know, I said that to him when I picked it up, he'd had it so long the service and MOT had rolled around but it never crossed my mind! Bear in mind that when I agreed to purchase it back in October, it was a fair way off

And that key offends my eyes. I think I prefer a bruised leg.
