Christmas break
Christmas break
Last day tomorrow (although I'm WFH) then off for three weeks til the 7th (mandatory break for contractors).
No real solid plans other than going up to parents for Christmas Eve/Day/Boxing Day. It's my first Christmas as a single bloke in a long while so I think it'll be mostly gym, Netflix, eating and lounging, all interspersed with a few nights on the piss. I'm looking forward to it.
What's everyone else got off?

Re: Christmas break
I travel down to London in the morning for an end of year meeting and then Christmas party. I'm really looking forward to this!
That's me done until the new year And I won't start back properly until the 7th Jan.
A welcome break after a busy year, can't wait!

Re: Christmas break
Short brake for me this year, finish 21st and back on the 2nd. I do have a week to take before the end of March though so all is not lost.
Looking forward to being off though.

Re: Christmas break
Not breaking up till Thursday lunchtime, then back on the 2nd. That said I was off last week and a week 4 weeks before that.
One of my reps is off all of December! It's not like her biggest deal of the year just got signed this week either. At least one of us is around to cheer it. My other rep is around like normal, but most of the customers on that side are enterprise ones who don't really do anything after the BF/CM weekend and for the rest of the year. Very quiet time. Luckily it gives me a reprieve to finish some outstanding training, monitor YouTube uptime and catch up on a bit of Battlefield.

Sounds like you work at the same place I’m at. Mandatory 3 week break - that they only confirmed really in the last week.240PP wrote: Thu Dec 13, 2018 8:22 pm Last day tomorrow (although I'm WFH) then off for three weeks til the 7th (mandatory break for contractors).
Left over crest; tightens.

Working till next Friday, then back to West Coast of Ireland for a week for Christmas with the family. Back here for New Years.

Re: Christmas break
I've heard Munich's lovely this time of year..............there on the 26th then back here on the 9th. Not sure what to yet, maybe work, wouldn't mind if there was none though tbh. We shall see.
Re: Christmas break

Re: Christmas break
I'm obviously doing it wrong. I'm working until 21st and back on 2nd.
Kathryn is off to Hong Kong with the youngest on 27th and they're not back until 8th. A house to myself for that long is perfect. It's just long enough to start to miss everyone and but long enough enjoy the silence.

Re: Christmas break
A lack of remaining holiday leaves me in a similar boat break wise and I'm DJ'ing NYE again (3 years in a row now and they know I'm taking next year off) so I've even got a job in the middle of my 9-5 work break. I may run a quick calc on holiday required for next year and see if I can fit in a 2/3 days extension on the end of it (although next year would seem to be rammed already so I doubt I'll have anything spare). I feel I need some downtime after the crap end to the year I've had.Jimmy Choo wrote: Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:12 am I'm obviously doing it wrong. I'm working until 21st and back on 2nd.

Oh the responsibilities of a (not so) powerfully built company director.
Unless I decide not to bother of course

Re: Christmas break
I'm working until lunchtime on Xmas Eve, back in on the 2nd. Mainly because MrsREV makes me use all my holiday earlier in the year.

Re: Christmas break
I was going to end on the 21st and go back on the 2nd, but I may have more enforced leave as I overworked the previous 6 months apparently*. Current gig only allows contractors to bill 110 days per 6 months.
* I didn't and I've proved it but gettng them to understand is taking more effort than I can be bothered expending.

21st - 2nd for me, company shut down so no holiday days required at least.
Re: Christmas break
Mine is a company shut down too, but it's just compulsory holiday rather than not using any.Rich B wrote: Fri Dec 14, 2018 11:00 am 21st - 2nd for me, company shut down so no holiday days required at least.

Re: Christmas break
Our peak season starts on Boxing Day, so we can't do a shutdown, but I generally tell people to work from home if they're not on holiday.

I have BOTH Christmas Day and Boxing Day off!!
Re: Christmas break
Wot Duncs said.
I have just arrived back in the UK after 2 weeks in Australia, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much.
Re: Christmas break
I have next week onwards booked off but they gave us today off as it was the company party last night. And they gave us an extra three days leave for being awesome, that'll carry over to my pot for next year as I'm all done for this one.
I bought a Logitech wheel for the PS4, realised it was crap just being clamped to my cheap IKEA coffee table so I then bought a GT Racing stand to attach it too. Beyond that, I'll be chilling, spending Xmas with the family and getting my head in the game for next years efforts.
