Next years meet: Caffine and Machine?

Post by IanF »

It’s a bit north of me, but is middle enough to enable a large group meet, shall we all make the effort? Yes, Scotland is still far away, sorry, but you are all most certainly welcome.

http://caffeineandmachine.com , or Biscester Heritage is also an option if dates don’t work out.

Shall we sort a Feb date?
Cheers,

Ian

Possibly depending on weather.

Anyway, spill the beans about this 7!

Looks cosy. Yeah, I'd be up for that.

So, about this 7...?

Yes, I'd definitely be up for that.

ETA - I'm also up at the in-laws in Oxford from 26th December to the afternoon of the 28th so if anyone fancies a post christmas run out in the Cotswolds (most likely on the 27th), give me a shout.

No. It starts by bemoaning how superficial modern life due to instagram etc. whilst making all its own content look as superficial and instagram-esque as possible.

I have no idea what you two are on about - there is nothing pretentious about this AT ALL:

"Caffeine&Machine is more than just a Café, or restaurant, shop or event location. It has been designed from the outset to be a place where ‘Welcome’ is more than just the sign on the doormat, where tribes meet to parley. Created as a place for the various tribes of automotive and motorcycling culture to gather, C&M exists to embrace obsession. We encourage and nurture your own peculiar madness, because it is ours. Period correct, stance, extreme camber. Restoration, restomod or rat. Vintage, rod and racer. Yank, JDM and drift. Touring bike, sports bike, classic and Moto-X and everything in-between. We are No Man’s Land on Christmas day, the eddy in the human flow, the quiet space where things gather, to bob about in the lee of the stream. Not inactive, just… paused.

That does not mean to say that there’s nothing going on. Far from it. C&M houses art installations and maintains gallery space for everything from paintings, to sculptures to vintage racing cars with a story to tell. There are workshops on-site, with artists and fabricators fettling and restoring, creating, breaking and mending. There will be events, and parties and places to simply sit and have a coffee and look at the endless zoo of weird machinery that turns up. The Tao of Caffeine laced perfectly with the Zen of Machine.

With beautifully-appointed rooms and a restaurant that serves beef-based manna (as well as vegetarian and vegan ambrosia), an Emporium filled with the latest and most interesting merch from the best brands and limber event spaces that can be pulled and pushed into a variety of configurations, C&M will become a hub for car and bike culture. A place where you’ll find a stanced Civic sharing physical and intellectual space with a pre-war Bentley. A place where bikers can talk about cars, and drivers can discuss bikes, and everyone can get inspired by each other.

We are you. We are the United Nations of Moving Things. But more than that, Caffeine&Machine is a place for people to interact and inspire each other, like we did when ‘social media’ was an actual invitation to a party. You’re not a customer at C&M, you’re part of the story, and we’re a member’s club where everyone is already member. Our interest is all-encompassing, our scene widescreen and high-definition. No judgement, no sneering, no worries. We’re not aiming for utopia. But we’ll give it a damn good try.

Come and see us. All we ask for is an open mind."

"We are the United Nations of Moving Things"...

What, rendered useless by Russia and China?

Anyway, I'd still be up for going, hipster bullshit aside, as there will most likely be lost of interesting things to look at.

They're saying on SELOC that C&M has gone a bit downhill  weekends are rammed, and it's getting full of slammed Golf's and Fiesta's with beancan exhausts redlining on the carpark. They're getting numerous noise and antisocial complaints as people are showing off on the road outside.

So apparently it’s a venture by Tom Ford (ex-5th Gear and Top Gear/Top Gear Magazine). He was getting a bit defensive about it on Twitter this morning after someone I follow pointed out that they tweeted asking people to drive considerately (ie no revving, wheelspinning, speeding etc.) and then immediately posted a video of a Lambo revving, wheelspinning and speeding*

There was a video on Mr JWW's channel last year about it, and it made me want to commit a crime just watching the pretentious bollocks, let alone going there.

I didn't know Tom Ford was involved. I shall go in search of twitter merriment. :)
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.
