992
Re: 992
It would do if the bottom of the bumper was raised to match. It’s more an indication of what’s wrong - the light bar to number plate gap is far too big and makes the back look like a bulbous slab of plastic.
The 993 I posted earlier in this thread is a good indicator of the correct spacing.

Re: 992
The opposite of that - half the size and move the bottom of the bumper up so that it level with the exhausts and the bottom line goes up around them. Just like pretty much every 911 that has gone before it.Mito Man wrote: Sat Dec 01, 2018 1:06 am Soyou want the black plastic insert to be about twice as tall?![]()
Re: 992
Right I see. Don’t think moving the bottom of the bumper up would be feasible as it would end up looking like some SUVs where the rear bumper doesn’t cover all the gubbins so that they have better departure angles.GG. wrote: Sat Dec 01, 2018 11:02 amThe opposite of that - half the size and move the bottom of the bumper up so that it level with the exhausts and the bottom line goes up around them. Being really pedantic here the issue is that the arse is getting bigger with each generation as the car is physically getting bigger, they have to break it up somehow otherwise you will get a huge slab of plastic bumper which will look odd. Whilst the skinny rear lights look great it doesn’t help the fat arse problem as it highlights it even more. Funnily enough I think the Camaro has the exact same problem but the 992 solution of pushing the exhausts up to break it up is a more graceful solution than having them at the bottom in this case.
How about not having a sig at all?

What a load of shit some of you are talking. You’re looking at studio photo taken at a low angle and deciding that a relatively minor feature is an absolute deal breaker for a car you’re not going to buy anyway.
If you saw one in real life, you wouldn’t even see it from the angles it’s being shown in and the whole section won’t look anything like as obvious as it does in pictures.
Or wait for the restyle and just assume that Porsche, the same Porsche that designed this car, will suddenly agree with you on the aesthetics.

They're interested in maximising sales and residual values. People hated the fried egg headlamps of the 996 (though they sold well so clearly they're interested in second hand buyers (which drives the residuals) too. Funnily enough they modified them then got rid of them and they haven't returned in the best part of 15 years. I've seen numerous comments about the blobby look of the rear bumper so it wouldn't surprise me if it changed in the next iteration.NotoriousREV wrote: Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:02 pm Or wait for the restyle and just assume that Porsche, the same Porsche that designed this car, will suddenly agree with you on the aesthetics.

Re: 992
I do think they should stop fanning around and just stick a proper single strip rear light back in, put the Porsche script into it, then just stick the model name underneath.
I'd rather have a slab of plastic than their current trend of trying to cover the rear end with badges.

Yes, the black strip at the bottom of the bumper is EXACTLY as controversial as the 996 headlights.GG. wrote: Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:27 pmThey're interested in maximising sales and residual values.
