Yep, I've noticed 992.2 GTS have suddenly dropped 8k

Just like when the 991 came out and you all wanted a 997. It’s a fucking joke. The 993 will come out and you’ll all be wanting a 992 then.
How about not having a sig at all?

Not really - I think the overall trend is that the base Carrera (or S model) in the first iteration of a new model is often not as attractive as the outgoing model. Once they've brought out a GTS it tends to get better and improved further in the second generation.

I still prefer my 997.2 over a 991.1 non GTS, so I haven't changed my mind as you seem to be suggesting.

Wow, that's early - before they've even launched! Must be due to Brexit.

I always liked the 991, and now I've lived with mainly touch-screen interior controls for nearly 6 months I'd rather have a 991 for its interior than a 992. But only for that reason; plenty to like about the 992. Particularly the way the first version available, as standard, is more powerful than a 996 Turbo.

Both 991.1 and 991.2 are beautiful.

For non GT models I prefer the rear of 991.2, but I ‘think’ I prefer the front of 991.1 more.

The electric steering of 991.1 (non GTs) didn’t receive good reviews though, so my ‘Euromillions’ daily will have to be a 911R (with 991.2 rear end :P )

My configurator imaginings aside I couldn't imagine myself ever buying a new Porsche. 993 Turbo for my my rich guy garage or a Singer if I ever get really rich :lol:.

I think 130-150k on a vintage toy like a 993 Turbo counts you as really rich. Singer is reserved for the 'obscenely' rich ;)

If I were to buy a 993 Turbo now it wouldn't be a vintage toy, it would be one of the newest cars I've ever owned :lol:.

I really appreciated having a petite mother when I used to be crammed in the back of the 6 series with the dog on 12+ hour drives to Barcelona, Monaco, Verona etc

997 Cabrio has beyond vertical rear seats - shockingly uncomfortable; 991 has a slightly better arrangement, but honestly, bus tickets are quite cheap these days..

911 convertible is the choice of maximum incorrectness anyway so the paucity of room in the rear of those is definitely academic.

Next time we have a meet and hopefully more time you can take mine out instead - definitely more rewarding to drive than a tip.

Went out in a quick run in it tonight - all this 911 talk this week has been torture as I've been stuck at work late every night and unable to drive it. I had to park up near a set of overnight resurfacing works that are going on near us to pick up a pizza and saw one of the guys on site look over as I jumped in to start it up and then proceed to do the 'great noise face' as I set off :D Clearly proving correct the old adage that the only people you attract with sports cars are other men. :lol:

ETA: Richard Porter has pretty much solved the problem with the rear - move the plate back up a bit and it looks much improved. If you then pulled the rear bumper up a bit too I think it would be pretty much perfect. The question is - who the fuck signed it off without this small change that would've made it so so much better?
