Thats crap, hope it’s worth it and all properly fixed. You really do buy cars “for the moment” don’t you, you always seem to be buying/selling cars after short periods as your circumstances change and you have to get rid.

Thats crap, hope it’s worth it and all properly fixed. You really do buy cars “for the moment” don’t you, you always seem to be buying/selling cars after short periods as your circumstances change and you have to get rid.

Yes I've never bought a car with the intention of them being keepers but I would have kept the Gran Coupe as it was the perfect all rounder for me, sadly the company folded and no income meant it had to go.

E39 has now clocked 93% of the distance to the moon and last week made a serious effort at going no further.

Last year I had the temperature occasionally alarmingly pinging off the red danger red danger zone red, which turned out to be a slow leak from the radiator. Radiator replaced and all was well apart from the usual 1l/1000 oil thirst.

Two weeks ago I got another danger zone red temperature warning and duly swore and topped up the coolant again.

The next morning I failed to fully comprehend the significance of the residue of quite a lot of coolant in my parking spot.
5min into my morning commute and seven miles out for work I got danger red danger.
This being a busy A421 with a very inadequate hard shoulder I ignored it thinking I'll have to top it off again at work, bugger double bugger etc.

One mile out from work an enourmous spray of steam emerges from under the bonnet, being on a crap road with nowhere to pull over I pushed on into the work carpark and concluded I'd probably just killed my somewhat loveable shed.

It got recovered back to the workshop, they fitted a new radiator under warranty, ran it up to temperature and concluded all was well. Radiator end tank had failed by way of a four inch crack in the plastic and beyond that no other root cause was obvious.

Having now put another 0.1% of a trip to the moon on it I'm frankly astounded and delighted and the toughness of the old tank.
Maybe I should spend a quid or two on it to prevent MOT failure due to rust and general shabbiness.

A friend did that cutting tiles with a 9" grinder, it kicked after hitting a metal conduit, severed an artery and nearly killed him! Were it not for an other half who was handy with first aid and a very close-by ambulance!

Yes this was a 10 inch, like your mate it snagged on a piece of metal and jammed. I didn't feel anything, the first thing that alerted me was the blood hitting my shoe and there was a lot! Fortunately the ambualne was there in 5 minutes.

I know it's not the same sort of situation , but I use my battery powered angle grinder 99% of the time theses days because it has an overload cutout, go too hard with it or it snags on something it just cuts out. Lots of reviews complain about it but I find it pretty handy and encourages good cutting technique.

I've had a few worrying moments with normal mains powered 4.5in grinders never mind the big mofos!
