Brilliant Nef - you're now the second person I know who has bought a speedboat, drunk, at an Auction. Mind you, at least you were at home, the other guy was at a physical auction, drunk when he bought his.

I'm sure you know this but there are a few basics you'll need to arrange before taking it out on the Forth as you don't impounded first time out.

Take video and post here... :D

Really? Like what? Aside from possibly having to pay for the use of a slip I can't think of anything that would get him impounded unless he broke the speed limit/by laws.

Nef, that's CAF. 8-) Can you moor it round the back of your house? I can't remember how deep that river is.

Fill ya boots...

It's more knowledge and understanding, rather than any specific kit etc

I'm no expert but basically to be safe, just be able to show your not a couple of blokes who've borrowed someone's boat for a jaunt.

e.g. - if asked about a radio, it's better to say something like "Well we checked the regs and we understand don't need one but to be safe, we've both got charged phones in waterproof cases and someone on land knows where we are, when we're due back and what to do if we're not back at that time " is better than "Erm, don't have one".

You can be doing nothing wrong and still have your boat impounded if, say a Harbour Master thinks you're at risk.

This was the advice given to the other drunk boat buyer by a seasoned yachtsman (who seemed to have a big thing for Radar Reflectors, though not mandatory I believe)

Yay, and rhd too :D

The "unusual state of tune" had me puzzled. What's different with the marine versions?

A drunken project purchase that'll end up making money ftw 8-)
