Horrific Macau F3 crash

Post by mik »

:o

Into a seated area too.

17yr old driver Sophie Florsh survived, but fractured spine apparently.

I read on Twitter that there had been a crash further up the straight and she had lost a wheel/wheels.

Wow   Very lucky to be alive and that other people weren't seriously hurt.

Mental. I can only think that the (what look like) temporary fencing panels absorbed the impact. At that rate hitting something hard would surely have been game over. Although 'spinal injuries' could be pretty serious anyway.

To be fair, it’s not dissimilar to my wife’s reversing style.

Makes a good case for the halo given that these cars don’t have them

I've been waiting for someone to mention IanF's missus.

   The forces involved it that!

I read that there was a spurious caution light earlier on the straight and the car in front of her braked sharply. She slowed down when she hit the wall.

That sounds entirely logical. Walls have the same effect on me as well.

That is horrifying. So very very lucky no-one was killed. Between this and the GTR going over the catch-fence at the Ring in 2015 (one spectator death) it has been forntunate for motorsport to have not suffered another LeMans type disaster.
