Does anyone have the link to that article about the high mileage 911 built to deliver race parts across Europe at high speed? I think it was on Boatshoes but I can’t find it using Google.

You're assuming the things that need transporting are large. I’d be much happier at constant average high speed in something that’s been designed to go way beyond that speed - like a sports car.

I remember reading through the thread as he updated it, the car is completely upgraded and he knows it in and out so can easily service it very quickly, think it had loads of radar jammers and crap like that plus needed something fun and track capable as he often did a few laps on track in it at the destination with other rally events thrown in. So not something you can really change with any off the shelf fast car.

I don’t think he ever mentioned what motorsport he couriered for but he seemed to engineer parts and drive them over last minute. Wonder if it was a current F1 team as he had loads of threads working on classic F1 cars but doubt they would need last minute parts.

Except they wouldn't transport stuff like this. Jet + helicopter maybe, an old 911 being regularly driven dangerously fast through multiple countries - just no.

It was for classic F1 cars. Either they take every part they have to each race or they have to grab some bits and pieces every so often. I imagine people who pay to have a team look after an old F1 car are quite demanding.

I think the reasons are that at high speed he gets very good fuel mileage and its a surprisingly efficient way to cover large distances.
