Surely the point of these cars is for each company to showcase that it can build the fastest most capable car? I'm guessing that means we won't see the return of the manual gearbox!... as much as I wish we would.

Harry M made the comment in one of his videos years ago that he'd love the next gen of supercars to bring back small capacity high cylinder count engines and manuals. I agree whole heartedly. Of course FezMac&Pork won't do this because they would be undoubtedly slower around the Hambergering.

I'll recycle my music of motors chart.

We want the high notes back!

If the new Trinity is going V6 they might as well dump ICE and get on with full EV.

My hope is that small scale manufacturing gets to a.level where I can SVA my own printed 3l V12 Exige clone.
For a tenner.

Due to your website formatting on my phone SSO I didn't actually see your new article at first glance.

Good to read the something as proseaic as luggage space makes your list, although our autopia where supercars are actually used may only have a handful of the like minded in it.

Anyway, sounds like you're totally up for my 3D printed 3.0l V12 manual Exigealike, early investors get on the list for a very reasonable deposit :D

Oh and my version would fix that stupid effing door striker abomination, and the door seals, and the firewall seals, and the AC and......

Is the Exigealike anything like the SCG 004S?

100% less turbos
100% more cylinders
66% of the seats
20% smaller

Really looking forward to seeing SCG run at Nurburgring 24 next year though.

I am very tempted by the SCG 004S concept.

Central driving position, three seater, Skyline engine, manual gearbox and a serious chance of actually existing. It's a compelling prospect ;)

ugly as sin though! The wide arch racey version looks ok, but the road one is weird.

The renderings are a bit awkward looking I agree but I recon that they might be a bit more "honest" than the usual wannabe supercar sketch. The ride height and wheel arch clearances look like an actual usuable car. The race car sketch is the more usual ground hugging missile.

I can imagine it being quite cool in reality.

they just look too tall and narrow because the bubble canopy obviously can’t be too flattened off like every other car. I didn’t really like the bubble canopy on the P4/5 though either.

Thanks. Glad now that I didn't place a deposit. I believe the originally intended V8 was to be supplied by Koenigsegg. Not sure why that didn't happen.

It looks like a 90’s Japanese concept.
An absolute unit

Pragmatic choice as he's determined to try and run LeMans with his car. I imagine it's both vastly cheaper and a known quantity in endurance racing. Also Koeneggsegg is a competitor for SCG.

No sure I agree on K'egg being a competitor for SCG. Price points are very different. K'egg is very focussed on to speed, SCG on racing.

I do think the engine choice while logically and pragmatic is a major negative in the long run. Cars in this class do much better with something more exotic in the back. Mosler made the same mistake using the LS6 and LS7. Very pragmatic but most people balk at paying $$$$ for something with a basic engine in the back.

Being exotic enough is the real trick though, the Nissan/TWR - Ricardo V8TT McLaren now stretches from the £140k 540 to the £2m ST clearly not harming their appeal much.

True but the McLaren/Ricardo V8 only makes an appearance in a McLaren. Its not powering any other manufacturers cars.
