Are you old enough to remember the very rarely shown tv advert featuring 8860? Catching sight of that was one of the most exciting things in the world for 9yr old me. And the set lived up to it.

I had the 8860! I badgered my parents to get me it for Christmas but I was only about 5 or 6 at the time so my Dad ended up building most of it

I remember being quite taken with the fact it had a gearbox.

I don't remember 8860, but 8865 was one of those ones were I always lusted after it but never got one.
