That's lovely. Congrats fella.

edit: turns out a mate had yours as a loaner when his newly bought Cayman 2.7 went back for CarPlay to be fitted. :D

I have collected it and, dreadful weather around Coventry aside, I pronounce it to be good.

Excellent news, you've finally joined the six cylinder, two seat tin top German car club, like your hero - me.

My biggest initial takeaway is how much the Sport button transforms it. It's like it defaults to sleepy mode and then when you prod the button it comes alive. The throttle response, gearbox map and it switches the valves on the exhaust, the whole package livens up and it's almost a different car. In standard mode it is not quite sluggish but certainly not as instantaneous in its responses.

Yes normal is really economy mode where it will shuffle up to 5th by 30 miles an hour and disengage drive to freewheel where it can. Effectively the first button you press in the car after jumping in it is "Sport" (which, in a Porsche, really should be "Normal" with the default mode being "Eco")

I do find that the valve closed noise with Sport off is not unpleasant however - there is more flat 6 ish ness to the sound it makes than in prior generations IIRC.

ETA: does it crackle on the overrun if you put the 'box in manual and let the engine brake at high RPMs?

Two people have said this now. I don't really know what it means. What does it mean?

I might get Carplay and Cruise retrofitted. Or just get a phone cradle thingy that clips onto an air vent

"Good darts" is an encouraging phrase or slang compliment in darts used to praise a player after throwing a high score, a great checkout, or a solid turn at the board.

Definitely get Carplay upgraded, it’s so much better than a cradle.

Yes its something I'd really like to get done on mine but as its under warranty I can't. At least the head unit connects pretty seamlessly to bluetooth to stream but sadly not for maps.

I was watching with interest re the new PCCM upgrade but sadly it looks awful, doesn't integrate properly with the cars existing systems and is really only sitting on top of the terrible sound system in the Bose so I'm not going to pay £3k fitted for that.

What Rich said. Google's artificial brain says ""Good darts" is a common friendly phrase or compliment used in pub games and competitive matches to praise a well-thrown turn, a high score, or a precise grouping. It can also refer to the physical quality of a well-balanced, high-grade set of equipment"

aka: nice one; well done

Oh I see. I wondered if it was eluding to throwing a dart onto the board of Caymen out there and hitting the bullseye.

I know - but I have rather blown the budget! Maybe a Christmas present, and get cruise chucked on as well. I have front park assist, so I don't know if a retrofit would give me adaptive cruise or not.

No it won't give you adaptive cruise - they require the large "eyeball" radar sensor under the front number plate which yours (like mine) won't have.

The standard Porsche cruise is good though in that it will brake you down a hill so there isn't a risk of speeding up past a camera due to the effect of gravity (unlike the JLR version on the RR)

Cracking motor. Love the interior!

Definitely go for AliExpress over PCM. I fitted an AliExpress to ny Boxster and it was brilliant. One of my mates paid £1300 for the PCM upgrade and even he agreed that it was a nice unit.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Now is the time to keep blowing that budget then - you can then justify it as the overall purchase price!

(that’s what i did with my van, new wheels and suspension!)

Sorry, the Range Rover cruise control doesn't use the brakes to stop you speeding on downhill sections? I don't think I've driven a car from this century that didn't do that!
