Spotted a Mazda RX-8 today, can't remember the last time I saw one.

Haven't seen one in a very long time. Given the tax (£800/year) and consumption (barely over 20mpg, IIRC?) and they're now 20 years old, I was surprised to see quite a few fetch over £10k - or at least, are advertised at.DeskJockey wrote: Wed Oct 07, 2026 10:29 pm Spotted a Mazda RX-8 today, can't remember the last time I saw one.
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Saw a DeLorean being driven through town with the left door fully open! Gullwing doors certainly make something seem special
Cheers,

That does seem steep. The one I saw was on a 03 (or maybe 53) plate, and was not looking like someone's pride and joy. Very cheap daily look about it.Matty wrote: Wed Oct 07, 2026 10:51 pmHaven't seen one in a very long time. The R3s seem to have a decent following and are worth money, but the earlier ones are either knackered spares or repair, worthless autos or cheap.

I can't remember when I last saw one either. I always thought it fell between two roles. It wasn't special enough to be a treasured car and it wasn't robust enough to be a daily.DeskJockey wrote: Wed Oct 07, 2026 10:29 pm Spotted a Mazda RX-8 today, can't remember the last time I saw one.
I still love the design and the doors.

SG54LAM in Stratford

Abridged reactions:
Me: 'ooh an orange Lambo!
Missus and friends: 'nerd'
Me: 'ooh, it's SG54LAM!'
Missus and friends: 'what do you mean?'
Me: 'I know the actual car (excited voice)'
Them: 'yeah right, lol, who's driving it then'
Me: 'Well. It was Simon George's then he sold it when it was probably the highest mileage Lamborghini in the UK... <yada, yada, gives potted history>
Them: 'shut up you boring bastard'

+3 on that.
If I'd had my sons with me they'd be all over it. The rest of the family not so much.

The Murci and Gallardo get better with age, IMO. Love the cleaner lines.
You used to be able to get a good Gallardo for £60k, looks like those days are long gone!
