£8,298 now and that’s a bit too rich. It was probably a deal @ the £6,500 on AT. I sent them some questions on Friday and haven’t had a reply - that’s a small red flag IMO. Makes me think they know more about the problems than they’re letting on.

I still think it looks fab in that colour though. If I ever do a “guess what car I’ve bought - it’s not a silver BMW !” post, the answer is going to be “a blue BMW”

Yeah, no correspondence mean they just want shot of it to the highest bidder with no questions asked - the highest bid is now at £9450.

Someone may well be biting off more than they can chew at that price.

I'm convinced it's actually a shed. It's only had 5 services in 12 years and 100k miles. The drivers cockpit area is very worn and tired, the drivers seat is shiny and baggy, plus the steering wheel is scabby. The auction site listed interior condition as 'average' and it's had a dodgy repair to the rear NSR door and quarter panel which has been left with orange-peel paint. I reckon a drug dealer with big gold rings has been thrashing it around for the last three years and when the engine started making a funny noise they finally took it in for a service on 29/08/2025 when they discovered the engine was FUBAR and it's been batted around various auction sites and owners ever since - all of whom decided that even after fixing the engine, it's still a tatty car so not worth the hassle.

Also remember that these had massive discounts 2014-6 as the dealers couldn't shift them, so the first owners were buying a deal on a PCP to thrash around for 2-4 years and hand back. They were something like £95k new and my mate (sales manager at Berry BMW Heathrow at the time) could give me £38k off if taken on finance - the monthly payments were not far off a 530D.
Unloved when new, then bought by people who wanted to look like they had a £100k car but didn't spend accordingly looking after it.

If the car has missed years of routine maintenance, the big danger would be that after fixing whatever is wrong with the engine, there'd still be a ton of smaller jobs that need doing to get it up to spec, which could be pricey when factoring M-tax into parts.

A little dear, although I wonder if they would be up to negotiate. Company has a good rep but it's a bloody long way away - they do deliver but do I want to buy a car I haven't at least kicked the tyres of?

Not sure about the saloon but for the touring, not as much as £38k but nearly £30k off - but since the optioned price with that sort of discount is £130k+, you’re taking it down to about £100k.

Sorry that was a typo - It was £28k off at the time. I wasn't interested as I had my XFR and got a 24% discount on an M140i instead.

At Southampton Boat Show today and they had some other modes of transport on display; a Cirrus SR22T and a few Bentleys.

I had a look around the Bentley GTC S that was too grey for my liking but I’m sure could be spec’d in a more appealing fashion… however, I almost choked when I saw the price - a few pennies short of £360000!! I hope it follows a similar trajectory to the ///M cars above so I can actually get one at some point without having to sell a few organs!

Autocar did a road test of the GTC S last week and their verdict was that the S upgrades didn't really suit the GTC. So save money. I assume you'd save money, there don't appear to be prices on the Approved Used or Configurator sections of the Bentley website now

They stopped buying in electric cars to retail a few months ago, and trade out any electric part exchanges immediately. Since road tax and congestion charge were introduced demand has dropped through the floor and all the used electric purchasers are buying hybrids instead.
There may be hope for your M5 used values!

I filled up the Range Rover at the weekend... £169 for a tank of V Power Diesel. I think EV's may actually see a resurgence if this continues (I keep my eye on Mini EV prices and the cheapest ones seem to have gone up by £1,400 (so >10%) in the past few months.
