Since I'm no longer going to NYC in November (after doing in my ankle last week, I'm not convinced I'll be able to walk around well enough), I can finally post in this thread without fear of immigration not letting me in.

What a fucking shitshow. Trumps' approval rating was down at -39 yesterday but worse than that, polls show the majority of Americans don't just disapprove, they'd rather see him dead.

The question is whether he'll have enough supporters to barricade himself into the ballroom in January 2029 - or will he be ousted before then? The US will have been immeasurably harmed in the world by his actions even if he stopped right now.

But 100% agree with your last point - he's never leaving/giving up the presidency of his own volition. He'll either have to die or be dragged out, kicking and screaming.

There is no way he sees a "what happens next" as other presidents naturally would - i.e. that the presidency is something you are entrusted with for a period of time before handing it on.

I'm sure Trump sees it as "his" like he does everything else

I said it a long, long time ago on here after the last election that the US is lost. Gone. It doesn't matter if they elect a literal saint in '28 who just goes on a 4 year international apology tour, at the end of the day enough of the American public have shown that they are thick, gullible and selfish enough to vote for the literal dregs of society and instil them not once, but twice, into the highest office in the world, just because.

Trump is a horror. The worst 'human' I've ever seen. The seven deadly sins incarnate. But he is both a symptom and a cause of the whole shabby mess. And enough of the world has seen what Americans think of them that they won't allow the US to be the centre of any universe any longer. Christ, they've managed to piss off Canada FFS. My niece has just come back from 3 months teaching and travelling in Canada and describes Canadians in the most gushing terms, yet even they have had enough.

It's just so over. Trump could die tomorrow, but the world will have still moved on. Global leaders will hold their nose and do just enough to humour the administration as it is, but realistically the next decade or three belong to Europe, the Chinese and the emerging South American economies. America first is America alone. See ya chaps. We won't forget!
