Every time I go to Amazon on my desktop, I get a splash screen trying to get me to sign up for Prime. But I already get all the Prime benefits; my wife pays for Prime and using Amazon Family sharing my account benefits too.

I'm sure it's beneficial to Amazon to have multiple people in the same household pay £95 a year but when it's not required, it seems a bit scammy. Anyone else encountering this?

Not that but the adverts are more frustrating than I had hoped.

The problem being we are a bit invested in it now.

Oh yes, I rarely ever watch Prime Video so hadn't appreciated that they had added unskippable adverts until I watched The Grand Tour.

Will it push people away from Amazon or will it show Netflix they can start doing adverts I wonder?

Amazon kept trying to get me to move over to a Business account for about 6 months, but no idea why. Only stopped when I signed up for Prime (which I get cheaply, so no brainer).

But yeah, in the current era of 8 different types of streaming services, ProtonVPN and Jellyfin are the way forward. I've been really impressed with Jellyfin. It's not quite as good as Plex, but it does what it needs to do... and is free vs £580.

Oh yeah, they pissed off a lot of people with that.

Jellyfin does what I need, because my local client can decode whatever formats are required. I get why people use plex, but for most people who just want something to watch their legitimately ripped bluerays at home without dragging a disk out, it's perfectly usable.

I have a whole ARR docker stack on my Unraid NAS, including Bazaar and an auto encoding workflow with fileflows which picks the perfect audio track, muxes in subtitles etc etc. It's teh awesum.

I watch a lot of stuff on Prime and don't really mind the adds. It's a chance to get a drink, look at my phone etc. And given the amount of stuff I order, it's a no brainer for us.

I am finding the Amazon "Manufacturer Package" adds on the radio to be a very strange choice. Pushing the fact they are using less and less packaging (is a good thing) but by saying things like "Delivering those Noise Cancelling Headphones, straight to your doorstep in the manufacturers packaging" isn't particularly helpful for anyone except the Porch Pirates

I prefer manufacturer packaging, because I don’t get any Amazon orders delivered to my address anymore. I kept getting held up waiting for an elusive package to arrive, so everything goes to the corner shop now. Doesn’t matter what packaging it uses, the less the better.

It’s good and bad for me. I’ve had a lot more smashed up items delivered so a lot more returns.
Also the cynic in me says it’s more to Amazons advantage. You used to get a massive box with a small item but it filled vans quickly. Now they can probably fit almost twice as much in a single van. So I imagine it’s worse for the delivery drivers.
