Caving/Potholing/Spelunking
Re: Caving/Potholing/Spelunking
I've done the Postojna Cave tour in Slovenia. It's fascinating, but that's all big open spaces. No bodily squeezage required.

I went down Hopewell Colliery a month or so ago and as soon as you have to stoop to walk underground, it's a very different feeling. Not like caving of course because it's man made. Maybe I just like holes in the ground really

I have no problem with caves, i’ve been down both of them - i mean the proper enclosed tight spaces. Like the ones you see where you have to breath out to fit through…Jobbo wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 1:39 pmI don't think it's as black and white as that. Go to the Dan yr Ogof show caves in Wales or the Blue John Cavern in Castleton for example; they're tourist attractions and it's not just big underground spaces.Rich B wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 10:53 am i think it takes a special kind of weird brain to enjoy the idea of squeezing into these spaces for fun - i do not have that brain.

Exactly. I panicked when I got my finger stuck in a key ring last week. Let alone jamming my entire body into an unknown, dark, wet, tight space.
