GF’s Dad also has a 2017 3.0dS that he’s had since fairly new. He said the same, no real issues to speak of. If it was a bit newer I might think about taking it off his hands in the future.

Last weekends want

Anyone who saw my previous post and thought 'bollocks, I bet you're not just saving'.... Congratulations on your foresight. I bought a Mk3 MR2 last weekend.

It was only £2.8k and given I've only run diesels for the last three years, something had to give. It's may not be a permanent fixture but it drives a lot better than a RAV4 and a Yaris and it's great to have something in the garage again.

I had a red 5 speed Mk3 about fifteen years ago and thought it was fab. This is an updated 2004 model with bigger 16" rear wheels and a six speed box. Black with black leather, polybushed throughout (not too hideous a ride, thankfully), with BC coilovers properly set up.

It has had a few owners, but the last one was for five years and sorted the rust (well, the photos he had looked good, I haven't put it on a ramp yet) and fitted the suspension. It's had a new hood recently and the wheels have been refurbed. It drives well and I'm looking forward to doing some touring in it, as well as reacquainting myself with powersliding out of junctions and round roundabouts. In my dreams obviously officer.

Further mods will be just like the Caterham, new wheel and new seat so I can drive it more comfortably. That seems to be quite an expensive business these days given I'll want a seat, fixings, harnesses and the obligatory Momo 78.

All in all, a perfectly timed purchase, just after the longest heatwave in living memory 😎

That sounds great Chris! I've always had half an eye on these after having one on a 48hr test drive once - £2.8k for a decent one seems a pretty damn good deal.

8-) Nice!

Everyone I've spoken to who's owned one speaks very highly of them. That being said, used to see quite a few and I've not seen one on the road in ages !

Isn’t the celica engine which has more power is more or less a straight drop in?

In my current position I'm inclined to agree Rich, though No 27 doesn't:

DannyDC2 on YouTube has done lots to his to make it into a serious track tool, but I just want his seat and the Momo tbh:

Yes apparently this is straightforward. The lack of torque is already irritating compared to even the Yaris engine 😄
