All so casual, i thought the American was being a little obvious at one point, but they’re all so relaxed about breaking the rules it doesn’t even register to Farage.

Also, having watched it now, holy shit Reform are fucking brazen. Did that bloke really say "We just don't have don't have British resident donors or entities who will support us. That's the grim reality". So, er, given this investigation, how many other of your donations has come through the UK resident children of foreign nationals - something that on tape they reel off half a dozen (censored) names of people who also do exactly this trick, so that their foreign money can support Reform.

Also, Farage being told by an American that he's really grateful that his [American] money is being used to help a British political party, and him not even going "Oh, wait, is that was this was? Oh I can't accept that" or even "Oh, no, we can't call it that, ho ho" but just roundly and gratefully thanking him for it - he's extremely comfortable with foreign money being filtered through to him illegally, I'd wager.

I wonder how long it'll be till Reforms accounts get frozen? This is incredibly damning, and it doesn't matter how many bots Reform fire up to say it's a nothing burger - the Electoral Commission don't base their investigations on how many updoots REALENGLISHPATRIOT1488 got for saying Farage was set up and it was all AI. They base it on evidence. Like the evidence in this investigation.

This is hilarious  This might actually put Farage and his top lieutenants in prison. You know, like his Welsh leader is, for taking money from Russia to push their propaganda.

Boy, it's like there's some kind of pattern here.

I liked that he spilled the names of several other illegal donators too (redacted for the telly, but the cops will get the info).

Shame we couldn't have done this when he was just grifting a salary from the European parliament. Could've saved some damage.

I see James Orr is associate professor of ethics (!) at Cambridge University. I wonder if he'll be sacked by the university like Jason Arday? This behaviour seems entirely incompatible with that role.

@Explosive Newt have you considered moving to Oxford instead to get away from these political scandals?

With Reform scandals it’s usually other members that come unstuck and then it’s “suspended and there will be an internal investigation”. This time it’s also Farage on camera!

You’d think he’d be done for but we’ll see…

The slimy frog was on LBC this morning with the usual “the reform party have done nothing wrong” lines and trying to play it off as “contractors”. I wonder how this will play out as this time it was him on camera confirming it all.

I love it how he's saying "they were contractors" like that somehow means they weren't subject to the same rules as other members of Reforms operation or were some kind of outside operators barely related to Reform. Every contract I've had has expected me to behave within that organisations policies and procedures.

It also doesn't explain why Farage is on camera warmly thanking an obvious foreign national for funding his political work, and being very happy about it.

That said, all these deflections are aimed at the sort of people who'd fall for Nigerian Prince scams and Turkish Toyboy fraud. I don't mean that as an insult, those are made so obviously basic and easy to detect that the people who do fall for it are too ashamed to admit it, and often double down, and don't get help until they're bankrupt, or otherwise beyond saving.

You can see that all over the internet - people refusing to believe their cult god-king could do any wrong despite the obvious evidence that he's bent as a three bob note and about as patriotic as Lord Haw Haw.

Are you kidding we are desperate for teaching staff!

Joking aside it's not a good look for the university. There was an email from the Vice Chancellor this afternoon announcing a review of the recruitment of senior staff so this is now really in the spotlight.

As an aside, Orr was previously at Oxford (like me!) and clearly saw the light (light blue anyway).

When I was doing my masters year at Oxford there were quite a few masters students who had done their degree at Cambridge. I never swapped sides. I think they call it transitioning now 😗
