McLaren MCL 6GT

Post by mik »

Image

Quoting Top Gear magazine "It’s also the first McLaren with a proper manual gearbox since that aforementioned F1 supercar, and while details on this car are short, we know it’s matched to a V8, sending drive to the rear wheels, packaged inside a lightweight carbon fibre shell."

[Aside: Going back to Stuart G's comment, I hadn't realised (possibly as I'm not in the market for one) that there had been an "Artura debacle". So I had to go and look. Explained in the vid below.]

I like the look of that, so different from the usual McLaren styling

It makes me think of a modern Noble, which is a good thing.

Looks generic,

At least 650 and 720 had distinctive styling.

I've not seen that guy in the Artura video before. I'm guessing from his hair that he doesn't often wear a helmet. Quite an engaging presenter - concise, clear - not bad.

The McL 6GT has a bizarre name - shortening McLaren to McL is the work of a WnKr. But I love the fact that it finally looks different to other McLarens which have gone before.

McL soon to be spotted in a McD’s carpark.

Only thing I know about the Artura is that it has a stupid tyre. The tpms is integrated within the rubber of the Pirelli tyre. Because of this you can only buy McLaren’s special Pirelli tyre and there are no alternatives. These tyres are also stupid expensive.

I thought he might have been AI generated to begin with!

Interesting vid though, I wasn't aware of McLaren having a debacle around the Artura either. That really is some dismal sales, especially considering the money they must have put into R&D for the hybrid system.
