I think I did a sex wee.
Re: I think I did a sex wee.
Peter Stevens isn’t very happy again. (Having designed the F1 but I assume he doesn’t have the rights to the design or he’d be taking it to court rather than making his feelings felt on insta etc only.
Does look good.

A tweaked 20+ year old design is 1000 times nicer than the T50.

Interesting, I was watching a video only yesterday, I think it was that one Tom Hartley Jnr does, and the person on it was saying his mate bought Rowan Atkinson's and how the F1 is not a very nice car to drive these days, big profile tyres, lots of steering lock etc. Be interesting to see what appears to be essentially a restomod will be like.

I wonder if he knows or the technical packaging of the T50 excites him more ?Rich B wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2026 10:55 am A tweaked 20+ year old design is 1000 times nicer than the T50.

Dunno, i still think the T50 is the laziest styling and biggest missed opportunity to do something cool looking out there.
Re: I think I did a sex wee.
Thing is Gordon Murray never made particularly nice road cars. All his stuff has been on the low end of the scale for looks. Rocket looked like crap, then he made an SUV thing that looked like crap, then he made those modular i Stream cars that looked like crap.
Probably a blessing that he only did the engineering on the McLaren F1 and Peter Stevens was left to do the design.

How about not having a sig at all?

Yep, to repost what I put in another thread previously, Peter Stevens isn't a fan of what GMA are doing, seemingly
Oui, je suis un motard.
Re: I think I did a sex wee.
I’ve never driven a McLaren F1, obvs, but I’ve driven plenty of cars from that era and they might be different to 2026 stuff they didn’t require as much compromise or faff as older stuff. Criticising the F1 for being from that era sounds like a Gen Z complaint. It doesn’t have power steering so it’s going to have a slower steering rack, but the car’s weight and the feel is the benefit.Zonda_ wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2026 1:21 pm Interesting, I was watching a video only yesterday, I think it was that one Tom Hartley Jnr does, and the person on it was saying his mate bought Rowan Atkinson's and how the F1 is not a very nice car to drive these days, big profile tyres, lots of steering lock etc. Be interesting to see what appears to be essentially a restomod will be like.
The S1 does look fantastic visually. I think I’d prefer a big capacity V12 like the F1’s over the Cosworth low-torque 12k rpm engine but this is about looks over everything else. It fixes a few things which weren’t perfect on the F1; I always thought the shape of the rear wings of the F1 was a bit unresolved from some angles - fine in profile but they looked a bit like they should have had sharper edges that couldn’t be achieved in their moulding process or something. The S1 has more rounded rear wings that just fit more cohesively with the overall shape. The way the whole front end ahead of the windscreen looks the same until you compare them and realise it’s proportionally lower is also impressive and an improvement.
64 of these being made I think, and again all sold before this launch announcement. Nice work Gordon. I think the company will easily survive his passing (one day) with this sort of easy pandering to what customers ask for.
Re: I think I did a sex wee.
I thought the point of the McLaren F1 having sidewall height and wheel travel was specifically to make it usable on the road - IE it improved the ride and body control. 235/45ZR17 front tyres and 315/45ZR17 rear tyres according to wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaren_F1#SuspensionSteve Randle, who was the car's dynamicist, was appointed responsible for the design of the suspension system of the McLaren F1.[24] It was decided that the ride should be comfortable yet performance-oriented, but not as stiff and low as that of a true track machine, as that would imply a reduction in practical use and comfort as well as increasing noise and vibration, which would be a contradictory design choice in relation to the former set premise – the goal of creating the ultimate road car.
