Perhaps better known for his producing work for others including Blur and Madonna but his own productions were a staple on my Mini Disc player in the 90’s. The Strange Cargo series were great.

I heard the announcement on the radio yesterday as I drove across Ireland so listened to Strange Cargo 3 in tribute. It’s still brilliant - 30 + years later.

I bought Bassomatic’s Fascinating Rhythm in 1990 - not knowing it was William Orbit and he wasn’t yet famous anyway, but it’s still an absolute banger.

Loved his All Saints and Madonna stuff - again, things I still listen to now. I guess his classical talents shone through everything he did and gave it longevity.

Saw a lovely tribute from Pete Tong on Facebook. RIP Mr Orbit.

Totally agree on Strange Cargo and Bassomatic

But I'll never forgive him for that awful version of Barber's "Adagio" - that was horrible...
