The Motorbikerist Thread
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
I can increase that to 6k rpms once I get to 300miles, then at 600 miles a heady 7k rpms..800 miles 8k rpms, 1000 miles let her rip.
Weekend looks fair so I'll smash the first 500 miles out in readiness for first service a week Sat, then I'll try and get it fully run in before autumn covers the roads in shite and I'll likely take it off the road till next year.

You know my views on running in. Also, I hate those Diablos with a passion. Luckily, they’ll only last 3000 miles so they’ll be gone quickly.

Why do you hate Diablos? I put them on my 748, they feel pretty good to me.
S1000R is wearing Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO which sound suitably racey but I know nothing about them.

50-130 in under 6s. I have no idea if that’s quick in bike term but that’s quick enough for me.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
They only work once you get heat into them. If it’s cold and/or wet then they feel like they’re made of plastic. That’s OK on a bike you only use on high days and holidays but I just don’t think they suit the character of the STR, which is an excellent all-rounder.tim wrote: Thu Sep 27, 2018 11:12 pm Why do you hate Diablos? I'm not able to ride hard enough to get any real great into them at the moment either, so I am in some agreement with Rev here. The Suzuki came on them originally too but it ruined them sharpish so I've no real experience with them. They'll be fine for running it in and sitting on till next spring though.

60-100 2.69 seconds. I'm not sure I dare put the video up!

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
It really bothers me that I could probably have the best 60-100 time, but am without the talent or cojones to extract it or the device to record it

2nd gear from cruise control. I dared not do it in Dynamic Pro mode I think I'd mostly have been looking at the sky. About 1.7g after a brief pause while it worked out what the fvck was happening at the back wheel. Nuts.

Race Mode? That keeps the anti-wheelie active.

Not going on the internet!
It was in dynamic, and you could feel it juggling TCS for grip and anti wheelie. I bloody love its stupidly insane nature. Quite happy rolling along at 30 in 6th too.

It is indeed both bonkers and awesome. I’ve seen a video of some random person doing something very similar to what’s described here and it’s very, very silly.McSwede wrote: Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:16 pmThis sounds bonkers and awesome.tim wrote: Sat Sep 29, 2018 5:32 pm 2nd gear from cruise control.
