Well, I don't know what you did @Jobbo but I've just been released, and I'm not needed again. The security officer did wink at me as I left, whatever that means.

To be fair, I'm not expecting him to pay it. He's a cat.

I thought cats paid humans in mouse, or half a shrew. Perhaps that was just ours

Just responding to the cat video above.

They'll never catch me, I'm aloof and cunning.

Ascender wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2026 10:39 am A couple of times I've been called up and I've just written my own letter explaining I'm a self employed contractor, happy to be considered at a another time but can't due to client commitments and nobody else to do it, financial loss etc. Been accepted every time.

I know they oversubscribe like airlines as they know some people will just bin the letter, so I suspect they're quite happy to actually hear back from someone.
Some guys I spoke to last week are contractors and/or self employed, and they couldnt get out of it.

One bloke said he'd have just paid the £1k fine, as he'd have been better off, but couldn't risk the criminal conviction.
I know a lot of people who just bin the summons and they never hear anything thing of it. I know its like airlines where they over-subscribe, but I guess the whole thing seems very antiquated in its process and the last thing they have time for us chasing up people who don't turn up when they could easily say "what letter?".
Cheers,

Mike.
