I expect this will be a similar arrangement to the E-Tech unit in the Renaults. it has 4 engine gears and 2 Electric motor gears give a potential 14 - 15 ratio combinations.

Has no traditional clutch - uses the motor to pull away and manoeuvre. It then matches engine rotational speed with the gears and uses the motor to torque fill. The box uses a dog clutch to engage the gears (Like a formula ford!)

I dont think that works for a sportscar however as you cant manually control the gears. Also in the E-Tech cars ive driven there is a massive gap on WOT between 65-70 when it changes gear. It's got to slow the engine down to engage the next gear and provide torque fill - BUT the EV motor on its own isn't powerful enough to be seamless and you get it drop in power...Especially handy if you are at that point attempting an overtake.

They're very gradually increasing the power of the AMG engine. I look forward to the 430 in 6 months' time, followed by the 435 next spring.

Yesterday driving through London I heard an almighty racket behind me. The whole machine gun pops and bangs map with us just going 10-20 mph. I was disappointed to see it was a Lotus Emira. I presume it had the chavtastic A45 twat map.

Prices are firming up on the Emira though. 58k is entry now, was dipping to low 50's at the start of the year.

Those are awful. I didn't much like the Elise Type 79 or Type 49 but at least they were done with some subtlety. The same theme on the Emira seems to be aimed at car cruises

Okay most probably aren't going to spec it to that level. But somewhere between £120k-£125k I would guess would be normal.

Some of those options pieces are insane. I know there has always been a good markup on those, but still. £500 for caliper paint? £500 for belts? £450 for tints?

£13k for the handling pack - titanium exhaust, carbon lid, lightweight alloys and some crazy dampers.

Thing about the dampers is, I kinda get switchable ones most cars have...but these are manual 11-setting adjustment ones. How many owners are going to make use of this? Surely they'd have been better to just have switchable ones and bring the overall package price down, then offer this as an additional optional track pack on top

Either way, £150k is a spicy price for a car with an A45 engine in it.

Yeah, £150k seems more like base level Mclaren than Lotus to me - even though it’s not any more.

A nearly new Artura or GTS could be had for that.
