Charity shop bargains

My old track day helmet was that old that the interior lining turned to dust, it was a Jean Alesi replica that I bought second hand so that gives you an idea as to its vintage

I've been casually looking for a new helmet as a friend does occasional track days but since I bought the Caterham I've stepped up the hunt. I know there's a risk buying used as you don't know the history but you get so much more for your money and that's when I spotted this full carbon Zamp helmet (no me neither) in an ebay charity shop listing. I did a bit of research and they seem fairly decent so put in a bid for just over £100 and won it. When it arrived I gave it a very close going over and it is in very good condition with just a few very fine hairline scratches, the visor still had the protective plastic on it so must have been swapped out when new. The lining is good too and I don't think it's had a hard life

I'm a big fan of charity shops - both donating and also buying

Especially for media (CDs, DVDs, books etc)

I basically use them like a library - buy something for a quid or two, read/watch it, then take it to another charity so they can resell it

It's cheaper than renting a digital copy, and it gives a few quid to charity

I recently picked up the complete Deadwood on DVD for a fiver - not watched it in years, so looking forward to revisiting that

I picked up a really nice suit from a charity shop a couple of years back, was cheaper than a basic M&S one and much nicer cut/fabric

Nice new lid. I dug out my AGV helmet as I was intending to drive the Super 3 on my Morgan trip the other week - which didn't transpire, we got the much faster and safer Supersport instead, alongside the Plus Four.
I realised the lining has basically disintegrated. Bits of it all over my head and the floor. Suggests it's time is done and probably not something that anybody is going to want second hand either?
