Thank you everyone. A couple of days of hearty celebrations have left me totally beat.

It's a 50-50 split of research and clinical time. There will be some teaching but probably not a lot, the focus is research (and bringing in grants and trials for £).

Is it your own project you’ll be doing research for or do you jump into an existing project?

My projects, which I have been building at pilot phase and are growing external grants now. The advantage of this position is that I can recruit people to work for me on the projects.

That's an incredible achievement - huge respect to anyone who rises to that level in academia

I've had issues with atrial fibrillation since my early 30s (now 55)

I've had numerous cardio versions and now 4x ablations (the last being a 4 hour procedure inside and outside of the heart
