Goodwood FOS 2026

Post by Jobbo »

Been a few years since I came. It’s busier than ever and the exhibits and stands seem to be spread out a bit more to absorb the crowds. And it’s hot again. I can only imagine it’ll be hotter and busier over the main weekend.

Photos later.

Another mate of mine is there. He says it's awash with social media performers. Tripods and pieces to camera all over the place.
Left over crest; tightens.

I can't be bothered with these huge events anymore

Goodwood, F1, huge concerts etc

I would much prefer small car shows, smaller events (like classic F1 at Brands Hatch), and small venues, cinemas etc

There was much to like about it still but it really feels massive these days. Got there at 8.10am and still didn’t have time to go up to the top of the hill paddock and rally stage; it’s busy enough and was hot enough that moving around was slow and sticky.

Plenty of cameras but fuck them, walk past - they aren’t press and have no special right to film uninterrupted.

I went today, felt about as busy as usual but I think the intense heat made trackside viewing much easier. In previous years it was like 10 people deep but I could stand right beside the hay bales in the sun at any time today, something not possible for the last 10 years or so.

Also it felt a fair bit smaller this year in terms of big manufacturer stands, I assume a sign of them struggling aside from the high end stuff which is doing very well. They binned off the whole EV section but that’s not a big loss.
Seems like China is going balls deep here, they have a bunch of BYD related sub brands but they’re not cheap, seemed comparably priced to Western brands. There was a fake Cullinan type thing but the CCP spokesperson told me it’s not coming to sale here as it weighs 4.9 tonnes.
But then Lotus and Polestar were missing this year and they usually have a huge stand so I think they’ve had enough pain.

I was disappointed that there was no Ferrari Luce, or maybe I couldn’t find it, but a lot of cars I thought looked terrible in pictures were ok in real life. New Audi R8 thing and AMG GT come to mind.

Annoyances hmm. Actually I think they’ve sorted a lot of issues over the years. WiFi which semi works. There’s enough toilets and food stalls finally. Over the last few years they’ve got the car parks and entry into the event sorted so you don’t take an hour to park up and another hour to have your ticket checked.

Getting rid of the Goodwood app this year was stupid as it had the map and timetable which worked offline. Now it redirects to the website which times out…
The hillclimb is always behind schedule because they can never start it on time.

Big annoyance which isn’t related to the estate, gates open 7am, I arrived at 8am at the paddock car park. Half the cars covered up or garages closed up. Alright kept walking, crossed the track, get to the manufacturer stands and a lot of those are closed up too. Just seems like they’re getting lazy…
I don’t care much about the influencer types too, just treat them like flies and walk through them…
How about not having a sig at all?
