Does anyone have a good politician ?
Alicia Kearns, for Stamford and Rutland is our local one.
Meets a lot of people, helped to solve a lot of local issues about flooding, women's rights, help for those in need etc. even some medical screenings for a common reason for women who just gave birth to die.
Comes across well, is ALWAYS doing something and is very well regarded locally.
Who else has an MP they believe is doing a good job, it can't all be the Burnham, Farages and Polanski twats.
Dave!

Ours is good, Anna Turnley.
Re: Does anyone have a good politician ?
I’m reluctant to say it but Nigel Huddleston is our MP. A Tory who kept his seat in 2024. I thought he was an ineffectual careerist politician but actually he seems to be doing a decent job engaging in local issues now.
Re: Does anyone have a good politician ?
Our local MP is useless, Labour guy called Gordon McKee. I emailed him about a few things and got crickets back. Seems to spend most of his time trying to boost his profile down in that London.
Our MSP is lovely though, a Green called Holly Bruce. Very engaged on local issues.

An absolute unit
Re: Does anyone have a good politician ?
Alistair Strathern is our MP (we went from Cons to Lab at the GE). My view is a bit mixed on him. He certainly loves a photo op locally and gets out and about a lot, but he doesn't have a spine to challenge his party on anything.
He's good at replying to Facebook feed messages, but picks and chooses what he answers to avoid difficult questions. I haven't tried to contact him through the more formal means personally but I know if others locally who have and the answers seem to have been pretty disappointing and ill informed.

Alistair is certainly doing his bit to support local pubs, a lot of his photo ops are with a beer in hand. I respect that about him at least.

Gareth Bacon is ours, and I'm not impressed so far. Tory safe seat, sadly.

When the chancellor was our local mp, we seemed to do very little but Im told that the area received preferential funding treatment.
Re: Does anyone have a good politician ?
Our MP is a first timer - young and enthusiastic but I'll be honest, I haven't see much change in his, albeit limited time in Parliament. He replaced another Labour MP so I guess there won't be a seismic shift in policy
Re: Does anyone have a good politician ?
Yes, ours is Lib Dem Chris Coghlan. He was a reservist and called up to serve in Iraq as a military advisor. He's a major advocate for SEND kids, responds to the emails I've sent him, really cares about his constituents and makes time for them whenever needed. Considering where we are on our journey with our son I'm proud to have him as my local MP.

Freddie van Mierlo (LD)..don’t know much about him apart from he took the seat from the Conservatives for the first time in 114 years (obviously don’t like change around here!
) Think he’s pro-Europe and reasonably active, but nothing earth shattering.
Cheers,
